How dickish is McCain Camp? "Our Town-Hall Proposal Is "Beneath A Worldwide Celebrity""
McCain Camp's Debate Response: Our Town-Hall Proposal Is "Beneath A Worldwide Celebrity"
By Greg Sargent - August 2, 2008, 5:17PM

Here's the McCain campaign's response to Camp Obama's acceptance today of the four-debate framework put forth by the Commission on Presidential Debates, complete with the obligatory reference to Obama as a "celebrity":

"John McCain looks forward to debating Barack Obama as often as possible, but it's disappointing that Senator Obama has refused his offer to do joint town hall meetings. We understand it might be beneath a worldwide celebrity of Barack Obama's magnitude to appear at town hall meetings alongside John McCain and directly answer questions from the American people, but we hope he'll reconsider. The American people expect and deserve no less. Unfortunately, it appears that Barack Obama's tough-guy talk on 'duels' this week was just more empty words. Americans are quickly coming to the conclusion that it's better to look at what Barack Obama actually does and not listen to what he says."

Nothing on whether the McCain camp accepts the Commission's proposal.

Meanwhile, a Deluxe TPM Lava Lamp to the first reader who can find the most recent McCain statement that didn't have the now-apparently-constant "celebrity" sneer...

3. They're just baiting and goading him. He'd best ignore it. He can't be seen
dancing to their tune. Remember Hillary constantly challenging him to debates? He blew her off, and it didn't hurt him at all. He'll do three debates, that's plenty. McManiac will have to find some other way to stack an audience with "townspeople" to ask Obama why he plays the race card.

4. Are these guys in fucking fourth grade?
Their whole campaign has degenerated into "I know you are but what am I" mode.

Obama should keep ignoring them and see how big of idiots they can make of themselves by November. I'm predicting a public "N-word" incident by the tiny angry man with the lumpy face.

I can understand that mccain is a fool but does he hire only fools so he won't feel mentally as well as physically inferior?

I hate that this is the only way he thinks he can win is by acting like a smarmy three old

I hate that he'd taking advice from the same guy who made Kerry "french and elitist"

I hate that this is what we're talking about instead of real issues.

I hate that it seems to be working at the moment.

I do think that at some point, the American people will have their fill of this whiny bullshit.

9. John Sidney McCain III with 7 homes, $520 loafers and a net worth of over $40 milion
is holding humble little town hall meetings and Senator Obama has refused to attend ????

Obama only has a net worth of $1.3 million! How dare he object to JSM III's command?

12. Get it through your heads - they are trying to lose
They have timed it so the entire God-knows-how-many-years-in-the-making mess will come crashing down in December, just in time for Obama's presidency. They will blame the entire mess on him. It will take four years to clean up the mess at which point the American public will vote the Republicans back into office to overturn gay marriage or some damn thing.

Seriously, who wants an obnoxious and rude infant for a president.

I have to be honest - McCain has actually raised Bush in my eyes. I thought Bush was the worst it could get - until McCain came along. I mean, not even Bush has ever thrown these kinds of tantrums.
