Obama's age, MLK Jr. and the movie Talk To Me.... |
|
One of they pay movie channels had the movie Talk To Me on last night. This is a movie about Washington DC DJ Petey Greene as portrayed by actor Don Cheadle. It's a pretty good movie. But the thing that struck me was it dealt with the murder of MLK JR at the age of 39. 39.
What struck me was how in this day and age, some are trying to make an issue of Obama's age of 47 and his "youth." I'm not trying to compare the accomplishments of the two or trying to say one is better than the other, but my goodness, look at the accomplishments of one man up until the age of 39 and how we have people trying to make it sound like being 47 isn't old enough to lead this country.

1. 47 is not too young, but 72 is too old. |

2. Frankly, I think humans are too hung up on age.... |

Rather than McCain's numerical age, I think his mental capacity should be the determining factor (which I think that his being shown quite clearly).
Look at Studs Terkel. Though sadly, I haven't heard much from him lately.
