Everyone else can mention race except Obama??
I am beginning to turn in circles here.

Any other canidate can make missteps in trying to discuss race, even be overtly or covertly racist. But Obama cannot state the obvious, that he does not look like any president that we have had before and he is making racist comments?

What planet is this being beamed from? Seriously, race is the elephant in the room, just as being a woman would have been the elephant in the room, or in another case, being older than dirt. But Obama is definitely held to a different level than anyone else.

Anyone else can celebrate or laugh about their backgrounds, but Obama cannot even mention his. If he does, he is bringing race into the campaign. Did Kennedy bring in being Irish?? or for that matter Clinton.

Obama is part Kenyan and part Irish/Euro mix. Get over it people. He has had some unique challenges, with that.

I just don't get it!.

1. McCain will attack Obama using racial dog whistles
and then attack Obama for calling him on it.

McCain is the lowest of the low and undeserving of using the word "honor" unless it has a "dis" in front of it.

2. Because people don't like even the slightest insinuation that they themselves might harbor
racist attitudes. It sends them into a panic of indignation. So if a guy like Obama were to openly say that yes, there IS racism in this country, it would make "polite society" turn up its nose at him. "Surely he can't be talking about US! How UNFAIR!" And off they go in a giant huff, to vote for McCain.

3. That's Correct - The Pundits Say So
they can chatter on and on about it, the Roves working with the GOP can create ads with blond girls and black candidates, but the multi-racial candidate himself is forbidden from pointing out that he doesn't look like other presidents.

5. If we wait for fairness, we will lose.
What you said is the way it is. Race will be used against Obama one way or another. Got to win anyway.
