I'm Glad Obama is not getting his VP advice from GD-P!
Edited on Tue Aug-05-08 12:19 PM by SidneyCarton
Lets review shall we:

Evan Bayh: Homophobe, Racist, Bland

Jim Webb: Fascist

John Edwards: Scandals (alleged)

Chuck Hagel: Satan Incarnate

Wesley Clark: Loose Cannon

Joe Biden: Loose Cannon, Bankruptcy Bill, Sitting Senator

Brian Schweitzer: Hasn't been greatly flamed yet, but I'm sure we'll think of something...

Tim Kaine: Anti-Choice, Homophobe

Hillary Clinton: :nuke: (Probably better we don't go there...)

Did I leave anyone out?

Anyhoo, if Senator Obama was looking for ideas here in GD-P, I think he'd quickly realize that even if he could resurrect JFK, we'd find something to be pissed off about (After all, he had a substance-abuse problem and liked the pretty girls a little too much, right?)

Obama has so far proven himself to be canny, as always a veepstakes pisses some people off, and unless Obama can pick 12 VP's he will not please all of us. Let us hope he can pick one that will help him win.

Edit : For those of you who were wondering :sarcasm:

11. The OP isn't saying he's a loose cannon. He's saying that we here
on DU pretty much criticize every possible pick for something, whether or not it's even factual. And that Obama will just pick the one who helps us win, and won't be getting advice from those of us who criticize everybody.

7. That's not the OP's opinion. He's just saying what he's read here
about every possible VP pick and that it's pretty silly to tear them all to shreds.

I like Clark, too. :)

22. I WANT Clark to be a loose cannon. I want the McCain campaign to pee
a little every time Clarke opens his mouth to puncture another masturbatory fantasy about McCain's heroism since he's been back from 'the 'Nam' (tm).

I want Clark, THE REAL WAR HERO to skin McCain alive.

I remember when Bush picked Quayle they said he did it because he was young and attractive. And of course we all soon found out that was his only Qualities to be the VP.

Everyone use to talk about how Handsome Clinton was
and Of Course Kenndy was considered a Hottie.

Let's face it Wes Clark Ages Pretty, and he and Obama would look great on my bumper!

46. Oh I agree completely. It is a fact of the age we live in. Even
though we may wish looks did not matter, they do. And thankfully both Obama and Clark are smart as well as handsome. They're a striking pair.

I only mentioned the shallow thing because I was skewered a few months back for mentioning looks and I have been hesitant to say anything about it again. For me it is just a simple fact of life and it would be impractical to think looks don't matter at all.

to offer our opinion, assessment and reaction to a list of possible VP candidates.

Some of the candidates are better than others; some are worse.
Some of the traits you listed for each above are true...those are the facts.

I think debate is good.

31. The media has conditioned us to run like scared sheep/lemmings
every time a new "crisis" happens. Someone coined the term nontroversy a while back here on GD-P, I think it really applies to the VP race. Vice Presidents are important, but nowhere near as important as we make them out to be. We should be so lucky, Obama truly has an embarassment of riches as to talent to choose from for a VP. Look at the fine collection of mutants, throwbacks and crooks that McCain has to pick from if you want some entertainment.

She seems well spoken, and as a Dem governing a Red State, she has experience working with opposition, which seems to work in her favor. That said I think this will really dredge up some BS from the primaries, because if Obama picks a woman, there will be an open question as to why he didn't pick Senator Clinton.
