Best line of the campaign so far, because it's sadly, so incredibly true. Keep beatin' it down like that, Barack. :bounce: :yourock:

5. Republicans are ignorant and the national press takes pride in learning from them.
All some reporters know is what Rush and Rove have told them.

6. Problem is, the Stupid Vote is the Swing.
Whoever gets the Stupid Vote will win, every time.

7. If you really believe that, why be a Democrat?
Seriously. If you believe the masses are irretrievably stupid, why participate in a party whose (ostensible) platform is to elevate those masses and answer their needs?

9. The Dems used to have the Cretin Vote, but Reagan stole it away.
"There you go again."

Bush vs. Gore....

"Al Gore's gonna take our guns."

We need to get the Idiot Vote back on our side.

All of the Smart People in America will never deliver the majority.

We have to, somehow, get the Fools back on our side.

Atwater knew it.

Rove new it.

We lost it.

I want the Fools back in our camp.

10. But why?
Edited on Tue Aug-05-08 11:19 PM by Teaser
Because it's the "fools" we'd be trying to help (as you imply they are the majority, or a very large plurality).

Hell, I don't need Dem. policies. I'm well off, my family is well off and well-connected. I'm not a Democrat because I'm trying to improve my state in life.

Theoretically, it's about THEM. But if you think they're dopes, why be a party to trying to help them?

11. Because we need their votes, that's why.
That is, if their votes still count anymore.

And this is the end of the road, for me.

I am too loaded to type, anymore.

When I am typing "anymore" into two out of three sentences (if one could call them that), it is high time to check out.

I have been watching a lipstick sunset over Lake Tahoe.

Adios.

16. I believe they aren't stupid, just ignorant...
and for most, its not willful ignorance either. The fact is that the media is pro-corporate and anti-populist, as such, most people simply are uninformed about who the real opponents are, or even worse, misinformed.

Remember this, most people in this country are more worried about whether they will have a job tomorrow rather than who wins the Presidency. Many work more than one job, and they simply don't have the time nor inclination to become political junkies. They rely on the media(Cable, Network, Newspaper, Radio) to inform them of the issues, the problem is that the media has, I believe, purposely failed in this endeavor. The reason is simple, an ignorant populace is a compliant populace.
