Please Read... I Just Realized Something Very Ironic (Obama Should Have Pointed This Out) |
|
Edited on Tue Aug-05-08 10:47 PM by demdog78
Okay, So McCreepy wanted to do the gas tax holiday thing, which would in theory save you... $.18 per gallon tops provided that the oil companies didn't just jack up the price to compensate.
Well, now you have McCreepy & Co. cracking fun of Obama... and the rest of the country, for saying that you can save 4% by simply keeping your tires inflated properly.
Well, at $4.50 a gallon, that saves you $.18 per gallon also.
So, inflating your tires properly saves you more than the BEST case scenario for the Gas Tax Holiday, and that is savings that you can get all year round; not just for the summer.
Now, scratch your head and be amazed at the utter stupidity of John McCain.
***I am sending this to all the blogs and as many MSM outlets as I can think of. We should try to get this out there!

4. Which is why we need "Pump The Vote" events... |
|
...bunches of Obama supporters in Church and Community Center parking lots on the side of well traveled roads waving signs that say "get your tires inflated free" and talking the drivers up and handing out campaign materials and registering people to vote.
With a grassroots campaign like Obama's you could hit a whole lot of cars.
You might even be able to come up with some astounding number of barrels of oil you saved before the election.

...and actually as it turns out when I posted it among other ramblings at dkos someone had posted it as a thread by itself there at nearly exactly the same time. So I used their diary.... K&R it if you will, maybe we can build some momentum -- at least enough to find enough people living in one spot to pull off one event, video it, and post it to YouTube. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=6593701

it supplies a better road too independence that the offshore drilling...
they say that if they began now offshore drilling it would take over a decade to provide any relief at the pump.... ( and that depends on the world oil market as the oil would go into a international fund not directly to the US. ) We all know the Big Oil co's would of course do the right thing.... HAHAHAHA... sigh...
but say it all went into the US market, in 10-15 years if might relieve the US citizens about 4-10% in relief... if you inflated your tires well over that time in 10 years you would have reduced about almost 20% of the need for incoming foreign oil...
just sayin'

I also liked the pump up the vote idea that was brought up by someone else.
Boy is McCain going to have to start thinking before he opens his trap and inserts his foot again (and again and again).

edit: and monitoring tire inflation saves gas indefinitely, not just for the duration of some Washingtonian "holiday" fad.

And fixed my numbers. The gas tax is 18%, not 16%... but at that rate, McLame's plan breaks even... or would have anyway. But only, as you said it, for the summer.

37. They may not jack up the prices but they are still making the same profit |

they were before...perhaps even more of a profit as people perhaps buy more gas as it is a tiny bit cheaper.
The GOP position on oil was written by the oil industry. That is what "a ceo president" is all about. McCain will be more of the same.

that is waaay too complex for their very feeble minds to comprehend:
Inflating your tires also reduces the gas you use.
Reducing demand brings prices down.
So not only are you saving 18 cents/gallon year round, you're helping to cut the cost/gallon.
(Or maybe their feeble minds get it. And of course cutting consumption is the *last* thing they want to accomplish!)
