3. Nope. Never.
Bayh: I haven't been asked to join Obama on Democratic ticket

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x6594363

Today was much like Obama going to Virginia and Kaine canceling a fundraiser last week. Create excitement.

I predict we will know the veep when Obama comes back form his vacation. THe week of the 25th, just before the Convention. And I predict it will be Clark.

4. He's a decoy, it will be Hillary. Barack probably will be with her in Nevada
this Friday...imminent announcement?

5. I think Obama will do what Gore did in 2000...leak out the choice on Monday, one week before the
Convention. That will be August 18. The next day the running-mate will be formally announced and introduced in an appearance with Obama.

One week before the choice is revealed, on Monday, August 11 (or around that date), we will be told that there are four finalists, and they will be named. My guess is that the list will be: Bayh, Clinton, Kaine and Sebelius. I'm betting on Tim Kaine getting the nod.

McCain will probably wait until the Tuesday of his Convention, announcing on September 2. The next day the running-mate will deliver his or her acceptance speech. I think McCain is looking at Eric Cantor, Sarah Palin, Tim Pawlenty and Mitt Romney. I'm betting on Sarah Palin.

7. Mittens said no. Pawlenty didn't seem on board today, with his praise
of Obama.

I think Cantor or Palin is all that is left on the right.

As for Obama.... the 18th seems reasonable. We won't get anything this week or next with Obama's vacation. Would he attempt to compete with the Olympic coverage or wait until the 25th? I don't think it will be Bayh or Kaine. I still think it will be Clark. Or Biden. Clinton's name will stay around until the announcement.

8. I think that you are right: Clinton, Biden and Clark
I like Hillary but I would be extremely pleased with Clark. It would signal the unleashing of our Democratic pitbull against that crook and hypocrite Keating Five's McCain.

And it will be Mark Warner. Bank on it. Born in Indiana and the most popular governor in Virginia history, Mark Warner is the strongest candidate for Obama's change platform. It's no coincidence that Mark Warner dropped out of the Presidential race 10 days before Barack Obama got in. He didn't endorse Obama early on when it was pretty well known Obama would win so that he wouldn't piss off Hillary supporters in the future. And guess who was at the first stop on Obama's Presidential campaign trail? Mark Warner. They are buddies. They look good together. They have the same exact ideas on how to bring people together to fix Washington. They are both graduates of Harvard Law. It's no coincidence that Mark Warner's energy solutions are exactly the same as those given by Obama. Warner recently stated a little while back that drilling will do little for the long term or short term but supports it if it can get other things passed. Exactly like Barack Obama.

http://www.markwarner2008.com/2008/6/25/drillings-spills-after-katrina

His issues are almost exactly like Obama's besides the artificial timetable part but says we need to get our troops out soon for political progress to happen.

He's done everything possible to take the VP scent off of him. Obama likes making surprises and catching people off guard and this will be the surprise. He has until September 4th to take his name out of the running for Senate and have another name be put in.

10. Warner is an easy pick-up in the Senate. I don't see them letting that
go.

12. That's a convincing argument that he wouldn't be the VP but...

There are good Dem choices to run against Gilmore. And Gilmore is mired by scandal right now. Warner's popularity in Virginia and being at the top of the ticket can have great coattail success for other Dems in VA.

Obama has said he doesn't think he needs a national security person on the team. He wants executive experience. Mark Warner has strong successful economic executive experience.

I think he's been Obama's VP choice since he started out for the Presidency and the rest of what we are seeing is nothing but a distraction.

Another interesting fact. Chris Dodd reported in July that he was giving papers to the Obama VP selection team. Does anyone think Dodd was being vetted? No, but guess who was a Dodd aide for a while? Mark Warner.

16. No he wouldn't.
The times I've seen him on camera, he's been pretty good. A bit bland, to be sure, and certainly not an attack dog, but he sounded like he knew what he was talking about.

I don't think he'd do as well as someone like Joe Biden, but he'd do fine.
