Sen. Hillary Clinton Seeks Democratic Convention Voice
Sen. Hillary Clinton Not Ruling Out Having Name Put Up for Vote in Denver

Sen. Hillary Clinton told a gathering of supporters last week that she's looking for a "strategy" for her delegates to have their voices heard and "respected" at the Democratic National Convention -- and did not rule out the possibility of having her name placed into nomination at the convention alongside Sen. Barack Obama's.

5. I'm pretty tired of hearing Hillary talking
about "respecting her supporters." This has nothing to do with respect. No one has disrepected THEM. They have disrespected the rules of the nomination and the nominee who was duly elected. By speaking of respect, she is implying disrespect, which is her code word to get her supporters are riled up. Where's the unity, Hillary?

6. That's exactly what I've been thinking, too
When HRC continues to frame things like that, the implication is that her voters were "disrespected" by...what? Her loss? And at least on the blogs, the angriest of her supporters are taking those words to heart. It's their battle cry - that Hillary was never treated fairly througout the primaries, and that doesn't do anything to help bring them closer to supporting the nominee.

Hillary's voters had the same opportunity to be heard as any other candidate's, and they took that opportunity by casting their vote. She just came up short.

7. what rules are those?
No one gets "duly elected" until the convention. Hillary has every right to have her name put in for a roll call vote and her delegates have every right to vote for her.

You don't know what you're talking about, do you?

8. Don't be an ass.
You know perfectly well what "rules." Electoral votes determine the nominee. Obama won them by a wide margin. I am fully aware that they are OFFICIAL at the convention. But leave it to Hillary to try to screw the party in her own qwest for power.

9. Actually Electoral votes determine the President - Delegates determine the nominee
FYI

20. LOL!
And neither did Obama win by a wide margin - probably the narrowest margin in the history of party primaries.

22. Yeah, okay, I know that.
I'm in general election mode. Either way, we have fairly-selected a nominee and it isn't Hillary.

10. What is her end game here?
That's what I don't get.

SHe has endorsed Obama, acknowledged she lost, has even campaigned a couple of times on his behalf.

Is she trying to force herself on the ticket? Or what?

12. Jeezus.
You really think she would hand the reigns of power to the likes of McLiar to have her shot in 2012. If that is the case, I am very relieved that the Dems made the right choice in saying no thank you to her.

14. A party divided is a party divided.
She has the power to ask her supporters to join with the rest of the party and support Obama.

Biden, Dodd, Edwards, Richardson have all been clear in their support for Obama (I'm not really sure what Gravel and Kucinich have been doing).

16. "electoral votes"?
what are you talking about? If "electoral votes" had determined the nominee, Hillary would have won.

Delegates vote for the nominee, delegates are chosen on a proportional basis... Obama has only 127 more delegates than Hillary that's a ratio of about 51-49. Most people wouldn't consider that a "wide margin".

15. It's perfectly normal and acceptable to do that
Except when candidates drop out and remove their names before the primaries are over that is what has been done throughout the history of conventions.

18. Not surprising and it won't get too dicey unless
her supporters then recommend her for V.P. if obama has picked someone other than her before the convention. If he's not going to pick her , he NEEDS to say something by tomorrow at the latest IMO.

21. This is not unusual
Obama will still be the Nominee. Clinton will still campaign for Obama. This is a simple formality.

26. If it is a "simple formality" then there is no need to do it... all it does is create tension and
division.
