Mathews Better Get Back Soon Or His Show Will Be Toast
Barnicle is unwatchable. He is either doing that rubbernecking smirk of his or putting a bit of snark to Obama.

2. He also has trouble getting his clothes to match...

Most guys *feel* uncomfortable in a suit. Some guys look uncomfortable in a suit.

On Barnacle, it's the suit that looks uncomfortable. He seems to want to rebel against the suit by choosing ties that don't match the shirt, which rarely matches the jacket.

I'm not some clothing freak -- I don't usually care. But the clash is so bad that it distracts from his poor interviewing... Maybe that's the point of it.

Bashing Obama would at least get him some fans in the republican world. But he's so poor at making anything he says sound interesting, that I can't imagine his comments garnering support even among people who agree with him.

The only words that come to mind when trying to describe his on-air persona are "beyond oatmeal."

4. He's a smarmy SOB.
You know darned well he's capable anything. Anyone who would make up shit to publish as gospel truth is not to be trusted to address anything honestly elsewhere. He tried a more subtle version of Scarborough's "Cheetos brigade" insult to bloggers. (This program broadcasts at 3 pm & 5 pm here.) When he shows up on Scarborough's show, he and Buchanan try to out good-ole-boy each other. I have no use for this creature.

10. Who Would've Thunk It?
I have such a love/hate thing going on with him, but really I hope he isn't sick again and gets back, cause this is one ratings point his show is no longer getting.

23. I miss him too!
I can get annoyed with him sometimes but I didn't realize that I had a fond place in my heart until I saw the show with Barnicle. I then realized with shock that I was suffering from Tweety withdrawal. I mean even though he can be an ass sometimes, moments like when he pwned that Kevin James idiot over the appeasement issue just make it worthwhile.

Also, when you look at how much the media has been covering for the GOP lately, he actually comes out looking much more impartial. Even when he's being less than objective, at least he's honest about it. It's much better than pursuing news with a specific bias without acknowledging it *coughwolfcoughblitzen*

Actually come to think of it, one of Bush's legacies is his adverse affect on the news media as they have picked up his administration's bad habit of cherrypicking the news that they want to report and discarding or burying the news that they don't want publicized.

8. He might as well pull out the pom poms for McCain. I heard them
making excuses for McCain again. Then Race to the White HOuse had a segment that they called Defending McCain or something like that. I did not watch it. I fast fowarded through all of that bs.

12. The Other Thing He Does Is Equate The Obama & McSame Campaigns As Equal
Well, he says, they both run negative ads. Well he says, neither has a good energy policy.

No they don't, Obama has not run the vicious campaign McLame has and if you'd clean out your ears you'd know what Obama's energy policy is.

16. They're both Irish don't you know,
and this gives them a bond. It is like an old boys club when they are together, and you expect them to break out singing "Ol' Danny Boy" any minute. Before any Irish become upset, that is one of my many nationalities that makes up my heritage. I've always wanted to go to Ireland because it looks so green there.

I know it's just rumor at this point, but it's really intriguing.

17. He's really terrible. Just today he was criticizing Obama (and McCain)
for their "lack of specifics on energy" and talking about how inane the energy debate has been. He said that tuning up your engine and inflating your tires isn't enough of a proposal. I was stunned. Obama just gave an excellent speech on energy with lots of concrete proposals and McCain too.

Barnicle just hasn't gone beyond the soundbytes (most of them relating to the tire gauge stupidity) so has no idea what their energy plans are. And he's hosting a show!

His two guests disagreed with him that the candidates hadn't been specific. He came off looking like an uninformed idiot, which is what he is. I don't know where he came from but he needs to go away. The dumbing down of journalism in this country is out of control and he's a perfect example.

All the shit just gets recycled daily because they have nothing to talk about...August is truly silly season. They should just cancel all these shows from June-August.

27. I don't know. In some ways, I prefer him.
He doesn't interrupt. He allows his guests to actually answer the questions. They're not always the most insightful questions, granted. But it's been nice not to listen to Tweety screaming and interrupting and pushing only his own POV.
