ABC's convention plans

ABC just announced their convention schedule, and similar to NBC, the network will be adding an extra hour in primetime for each convention.

In 2004, the http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0608/10954.html">Big Three broadcast one hour on three of the four nights (from 10 - 11 pm). This year, however, NBC and ABC are adding an hour for a fourth night, with CBS still only doing http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/cbs/cbs_announces_convention_plans_90291.asp">three nights.

In addition to broadcast coverage, there will be daily netcasts, and "extensive reporting and analysis on ABC News Radio, gavel-to-gavel coverage on ABC News NOW and live streaming video on ABCNEWS.com.

Also, “Good Morning America,” “World News,” “Nightline” and “This Week” will originate from both Denver and St. Paul.

UPDATE: With President Bush now speaking on the first night of the Republican convention, I'm hearing from a source that CBS will likely add an hour on the Monday of each convention, too.

1. Isn't Boy Hitler's speech scheduled on the night football starts?
I'm sure it's on purpose, but I think it's funny that effectively Republians get one less night of real coverage. No one will watch Boy Hitler, or any Repuke when there's football to be watched.

2. If it looked like a problem, the NFL might adjust
NFL has always been reliably republican as far as I can tell.
