Lieberman ‘on McCain short-list’ AKA The asshole that won't go away.
Is it official? Have the dems officially disowned this asshole yet?

Lieberman ‘on McCain short-list’
By Stephanie Kirchgaessner in Washington

Published: August 9 2008 00:35 | Last updated: August 9 2008 00:35

Joe Lieberman, the former Democratic vice-presidential nominee who has endorsed John McCain, is being vetted as a potential running mate for the Republican presidential hopeful, according to an adviser to Mr McCain’s *campaign.

Mr Lieberman, who has campaigned for the Arizona senator, has long been *considered an unconventional but plausible choice for Mr McCain.

Although Democrats have rejected Mr McCain’s image as a maverick politician, Mr Lieberman’s support for the presumptive Republican nominee has, much to the chagrin of his former *colleagues, helped to boost Mr McCain’s reputation as a bi-partisan legislator with friends on both sides of the aisle. Mr Lieberman, a staunch supporter of Israel, could also help Mr McCain win over Jewish voters.

loves Lieberman. And he is on the list because Lieberman has never embarrassed anyone, never misspoken. The first rule is, don’t take someone who costs you votes,” said one McCain adviser.

1. Good. Regardless if people think Obama is too young and inexperienced,
I couldn't imagine anyone looking at those two without thinking OLD.

7. Funny, their age never really crossed my mind
I keep thinking to fools who lost all respect sucking up to an ass that doesn't respect them.

That ticket is SCARY old.

21. Yeah - and contrasted to a vibrant, energetic, younger Obama ticket,
the contrast would be even more pronounced. And unavoidable!

3. Obama is more popular among Jews than Lieberman, so I don't think that will be a problem.
He will probably have the same effect he had on our 2000 ticket (he will kill it.)

22. And I think he's pretty much embarrassed the Democratic Party.
Or, we're embarrassed BY him, if there's a nuance to be had.

15. On a superficial level, it would be a bad move for McCain
Let's face it, McCain is old and unattractive and Lieberman, while not quite as old, is just downright repulsive.. As speakers, they both suck like a Hoover, and neither one has enough charisma to fill a gnat's stomach.

26. I don't understand Lieberman...
Why is he still sucking up to the Repubs? I can understand doing it when they were the dominant party, but why is he looking to ditch the Dems when the GOP is spinning in the drain? It's like a rat jumping onto a sinking ship.

28. It's All He's Got
This is the final act of Joementum's fall into irrelevancy. His support for Likud has been a long time embarassment to this American Jew and its now led him into his own political diaspora...a man without a party. The GOOP really don't want him other than to be a pain in the Democrats side...he is "too librul"...but for the past two years he's been a useful tool. Joementum's days of having any value to either party is soon to end unless Gramps wins. He's all but sealed his ticket out of the Democratic caucus the moment he steps on the stage in Minneapolis and if the Democrats get 52 seats...and can set up the organizing rules to their liking, Joementum's toast. He'll be stripped of his committeships...and if he switches to the GOOP, there's no assurance he'll be granted senority. He'll be doomed to be a backbencher...a man without a party. Gramps is his only hope...and he'll take anything.

Ironically, I've heard that if Gramps does nominate Joementum...or anyone who is accepting of a woman's right to choose, the fundies will attempt to place their own candidate into nomination which could lead to a nasty floor fight. It'd be their own Operation Chaos.
