Jill Hazelbaker is currently the national communications director for John McCain's presidential campaign, and has been profiled in several recent news articles discussing her missteps as a campaign press aide. However, Hazelbaker has a disturbing past as an Internet Troll and is now believed to be behind the McCain bury brigade that suppresses negative online stories regarding the candidate.
Two weeks ago Hazelbaker became famous when McCain publicly disagreed with her line of attack against Barack Obama on his foreign trip. Hazelbaker raced out of the Virginia campaign headquarters crying and refused to take McCain’s calls of apology, aides said.
Hazelbaker served as the campaign spokeswoman for the 2006 New Jersey Senate campaign of Republican Thomas Kean Jr., who was easily defeated by Democrat Robert Menendez.
New Jersey grad student Juan Melli, founder of the blog Blue Jersey, noticed that between July and September one IP address had registered four different accounts, each one claiming to be a Democrat but posting multiple anti-Menendez comments using pseudonyms like usedtobeblue and cleanupnj. This IP address had also been used to send emails signed by Hazelbaker to other correspondents, according to the New York Times.
It appears the Internet Troll Hazelbaker is at it again. It has been reported that there is an orchestrated online campaign to bury and suppress negative stories about John McCain. The activities are happening on popular information and news sharing websites like digg.com and reddit.com.>>>snip
