California DUers, please explain this Craigslist job ad
I'm just assuming some kind of evil is involved here. Evil with deep pockets in this case. The key clues are emphasized in bold below. My personal snarks are in italics.

Be a part of a major legislative campaign in California.
We are seeking highly-motivated individuals for the upcoming general election.
This is a great opportunity for the right applicant to get his or her foot in the door of the hard-to-enter field of politics.

("Just show up & we'll pay ya" -- that's "hard to enter"?)

This position might be a good fit if you:
• like hard work and long hours
have a conservative or moderate ideology (moderate = left of Tamurlane)
• have a car
• are able to relocate to California

This is not the right position for you if you:
• have a mortgage or substantial monthly financial obligations
have a law or graduate degree (no smarties allowed!)
• need to make a lot of money

This position entails both field and office work.
Applicants must have a car they can drive out to California. All transportation costs will be reimbursed.
Those hired will have accommodations and at least one meal a day provided by the campaign. (Also, 40 acres and a mule)

Please respond by email. Include a resume as well as a short paragraph describing why you are interested in politics in the body of the email.

Something's rotten in the State of Avocadoland. Can someone elucidate for me what "conservative or moderate" cause is out there shilling for block walkers?

3. Beats me! Why would a campaign exclude workers with a law or grad degree?
That doesn't make any sense. And you can't have a mortgage? This has to be a joke.

I don't really know much about Craig's List--just a vague impression that it's "liberal." If so, WTF are they advertising for "conservatives" for?

I think, a) This needs to be verified as actually coming from Craig's List, and b) if it is, they need to explain what-all this weird job is, that you can't do if you have a graduate degree.

6. They advertise for whoever wants to place an ad. I don't think they discriminate
It can be "verified as actually coming from Craig's List" by clicking on the link I provided.

The reason they don't want people with grad degrees is that they don't want critical thinkers showing up. The reason they don't want lawyers is that lawyers tend to ask questions that this group may not want to answer.

It's not a joke in the literal sense. It's a real ad.

4. The kicker is "must not be a lawyer
That means it involves things that are somewhat unethical or even criminal, and they don't want people with a conscious.
