Is the "Whites won't be the majority" story a rallying call?
I just woke up and I've already seen the story on 4 different outlets, like it's the most important story of the day.

3. White male Republicans pee themselves over that.
It's obviously another way the McCain camp can come out with something racist without being accountable for it.

4. What the fuck is he going to do about it? Encourage more breeding of whites?
Recommend sterilizations for minorities? Outlaw homosexuality among whites but promote it in minorities? What?

I realize to the low-info, racist, Rethug the logical conclusion would be to vote for McCain, but anyone that thinks about it for more than 2 seconds shouldn't have their vote affected by this either way...

... or am I just being naive again?

12. There are racial undertones in the anti-abortion crowd
and that is part of why some are opposed ot abortion. They beleive without abortion there would be parity in births and thus white people would maintain the majority.

Don't ask me, it's just an explanation I've heard from an anti-abortiion person. I had no idea they were also racist at the time.

7. Translation: If white people vote for Obama, they'll be wiped from the planet!
John Gibson has already warned white people that they need to procreate and make beautiful, blonde-haired babies. Pat Buchanan warns us each day that we'll be speaking Spanish. Lou Dobbs strongly believes that "those people" will steal your jobs! Tweety reminds us that Obama isn't a "regular guy." We've been told repeatedly that "hard-working whites" won't vote for him.

....and on and on...

Of course it's a rallying cry.

9. It's the story, but it's not the story
Edited on Thu Aug-14-08 11:42 AM by OmahaBlueDog
The real story is that the demographic sea change that has been taking place on the coastal and border states for years is now impacting traditionally white areas. As one poster said, this isn't news for Californians, or for that matter Texans, Floridians, New Yorkers, etc. However, in the "heartland" (parts of the Southern Bible Belt, the Plains States, and the Rocky Mountain states), folks are waking up to the fact that small town America is often becoming Spanish-speaking America. Any town with a slaughter facility or processing plant will have a substantial Spanish speaking population. This upsets the residents, who feel like it should be incumbent upon the immigrants to learn English, and learn it now ("like my grandparents did" you'll often hear). These residents resent, for example, going to Wal-Mart, and having the credit swipe ask them "English or Spanish." This is why Republicans have seized upon the anti-immigrant mantra, and are reviving things like the Hiakawa Amendment (a.k.a. The English Only ammendment floated in the late 70s/early 80s).

10. this clown with a quasi-documentary was on WGN yesterday
hard to believe the two aren't related...

for those who don't want to give him an extra click, it's the standard "europeans/americans are not breeding enough, so in a generation, they will be overrun by chinese/latinos/africans/indians" schtick...he dresses it up as a global population decline problem, but funny how nonwhites are never mentioned in his Q+A

16. Keep in mind that any mention of race automatically turns us in blithering panic monkeys
Acting stupid about race is the great equalizer in American culture.
