Election History Oct. 2004 - Oregon and Nevada - Democratic Voter Registration Forms Destroyed.

I know a lot of folks are obsessed with black box voting. However, in focusing on this, many of us ignore good old fashion voter intimidation and fraud. For example, Democrats who thought they were registered had their registrations destroyed by Republican voter registration companies that destroyed the forms of voters who registered as Democrats. Can it happen again? Or, perhaps more to the point, will it be caught?

CNN) -- Nevada election officials have launched an investigation into allegations that a Republican-led voter registration drive improperly disposed of forms it collected from potential Democratic voters.

Secretary of State Dean Heller said Wednesday that his office was reviewing the allegations, first raised Tuesday in a report by CNN affiliate KLAS-TV in Las Vegas.

"We are researching state and federal law to determine what violations may have occurred," Heller said in a statement. "If, in fact, the allegations are true and federal law has been broken, all efforts will be made to prosecute the individuals and/or the organization responsible."

The probe centers around a private voter registration firm, Voter Outreach of America, which collected registrations from voters in Nevada, a pivotal presidential battleground state. The company was set up by Sproul & Associates Inc., a Republican political consulting firm based in Phoenix, Arizona.

1. And Repug Secretaries of State across the country are PURGING NEW VOTERS by the thousands
We need to spread the word. People need to check that they are registered before election day in time enough to fix any problems.

Thanks for your post. This is our very democracy we're talking about here.

2. I think they are after mine through DMV. Want me to go get my pic renewed
by 9.1. I think I'm going to blow it off until after the election. My address hasn't changed, but nowhere on the license does it say you have to get a new picture. Just says when it must be renewed.
