OK now. Let's think like a Republican. (I know, hard to do, but try.)

OK now. Let's think like a Republican. (I know, hard to do, but try.)
Edited on Thu Aug-14-08 09:40 PM by Kablooie
This is a Republican thinking:

To win the election we need to scare people because
people think we are the party of defense.
So how can we scare people into voting for us this time?

A new terror attack.

Problem, it would make Bush's protection of America look weak.
Not the best thing for us right now.

A new war in the Middle East.

Maybe.
Iran certainly is a tempting target and we could blame it
on the nuclear development there.
Problem, everyone's on the watch for hostilities towards
Iran and are prepared to prevent or stop it as soon as it
starts.
Still might work out but not as cleanly as we would like.

Russia attacks America.

Now THERE'S an idea! It would scare the pants off everyone.
It's easy to make Russians look like the enemy too, they
are halfway there already.
If we started a war with Russia, the election is in the bag
and Republicans will swarm, tribble like, but without the
cuteness, all over Washington once more.

The main problem is that it might not work if we looked
likethe agressors. Russia has to attack us first.
Hmmm. How can we get Russia to attack us before the elections?

Why, all we have to do is keep goading them. Keep pricking them
with little things they hate and soon they will turn on us and
attack and then we're in the money!

----

Now read the newspapers and see what's happening. Georgia tries
to expand it's territory and calls down attacks from Russia.
Rumors that Rove, (Rove? What the hell's he doing in international
politics? Oh yes. It's actually about keeping Republicans in control,
which is his mileu.), went to Georgia to encourage them to do this.

Now Bush has signed an agreement with Poland to install missles there.
The Russians are adamantly against this, as our government is fully
aware of.

Next ....

I'll bet we will hear of incident after incident of things America does
that will anger Russia. Probably some of it very bold because they've got
to get under Russia's skin in a very short time.

And then....

PRESIDENT MCCAIN WILL ARISE AS THE NEW MESSIAH AND SAVE AMERICA FROM A DIRE THREAT!

Oh, Hallelujah and Huzzah.

War is such a wonderful thing.
It gives Republicans warm, fuzzy power over all of us.

2. Reminds Me Of A Fear Of 2004
I had a friend who was all but convinced that boooshie would stage a terrorist attack prior to the election, but it would't be in the US, but in a friendly country abroad. He predicted Canada...close enough for massive media coverage and to scare the sheeple. He now thinks this could happen to bail out Gramps. I hope he's wrong again, but as witness in this Wag The Dog game Gramps has played in Georgia, I don't put anything past this regime...especially as Obama is a far stronger challenge to their power than Kerry was.

5. If you assume they don't, you've lost the war.
One thing they do have is a fiercely diabolical ability to think.

13. LOOKING AT REPUBS "WRECKING "CREW" BY ONCE REPUB
I have been screaming in posts on this and many Dem sites that there is no limit to how low Republicans would go for power. No Dem should confront them without first reading Frank's book WRECKING CREW. The author of WHAT'S WRONG WITH KANSAS gives a WHAT (if not a full HOW) catalog of what THINK these "thinking outside the box" types, KNOWING that they are mediocrities and should never have been in power-- THAT'S WHY THEY ARE OBSESSED WITH VIOLATING TRUTH, LAW AND LOGIC, KNOWING THAT THIS *ALONE* GIVES THEM AN EDGE OVER IDEALISTIC DEMS-- and so when they do get power, their predatory instincts take over, having no causes or higher motives TO INHIBIT THEIR AVARICE. That's why they come to power crooked and in power voraciously steal: they can't feel responsibility because they were never raised to be responsible (eg. McCain). Frank's book gives you enough details to pin the tail on the elephant.

BUT NEVER FORGET THAT CORSI-- CONGENITAL ROVIAN SCUMBAG REMEMBERED AS SUCH-- RELIES ON MAKING-UP STUFF HE KNOWS NO ONE WOULD NORMALLY BELIEVE, GIVEN CORSI'S A DISCREDITED SOURCE AND LACKS ANY EVIDENCE; BUT GIVEN THAT OBAMA'S ***BLACK*** CORSI'S SURE IT'LL BE BELIEVED BECAUSE WHITES DON'T WANT, AS MANY DEMS AND REPS SAID TO ME, "A *N----ER IN THE *WHITE* HOUSE."

MCCAIN'S ONLY HOPE IS THAT HE IS WHITE, DESPITE THE SPREADING MELANOMA.

CORSI'S ONLY CREDIBILITY IS THAT HE IS *WHITE,* HITTING AT A *BLACK* MAN TRYING TO TAKE-OVER THE *WHITE* HOUSE. Obama faced the same impotent and ignorant racism in the grand-parents that raised him, so can cope with it and tries to let it roll off his back. I ADMIRE HIM FOR IT AND ACCEPT THAT WE SHOULDN'T MAKE AN ISSUE OF BOOMER-RACISM. BUT WE OWE IT TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE TO SHOW WHAT SCUM BAG "WRECKING CREW" IS THE ALTERNATIVE TO THIS BLACK-JFK.

Like JFK, Obama is the only candidate to challenge us Americans to technologically do what we must do within a decade-- CHANGE. THAT MAKES HIM THE BLACK JFK. Obama's opponent is the dying cork on a bottle of Republican cockroaches to be let loose in the White House. The fact that they are white doesn't change the fact that they are roaches.

WE DEMS COURAGEOUSLY CHOSE OBAMA AS OUR CANDIDATE NOW WE MUST COURAGEOUSLY EXPOSE THE "WRECKING CREW" HE SEEKS TO DEFEAT. WE'LL WIN THROUGH FACTS AND LOGIC!

14. Literally, here is a con thinking ... letter to editor in 'neus'paper today
To the Editor:

Cal Thomas is not a candidate for president, as another letter writer seems to think. It’s the other guy, the one with the wife who has always been proud of her country. The candidate who fought for his country and has served as a fine senator with a willingness to cross the aisle for a cause he believed in. John McCain is the candidate I’m referring to.

Barack Obama talks about change, putting more air in our tires, penalizing the rich for being successful, taxing profitable corporations and distributing the proceeds to the self-proclaimed victims in our society. I strongly feel that getting and holding down a job would offer more lasting relief for these victims than another handout from our government, which is funded by our tax dollars.

The current conflicts in Russia/Georgia, Israel/Iran, Darfur, Afghanistan and Iraq would offer a challenge to Obama that I’m afraid would leave him like a lost ball in high weeds. Good intentions and vague promises will not get the job done.

I’m going with the old dude who has been there and done that. I feel confident that my children and grandchildren will have a safer and more stable country to live in with McCain. We have enjoyed that style of living; let’s pass it on.

Rufus XXXX
