What's a good old boy from NC to do? |
|
I'm watching the Olympics. McCain keeps running an ad in NC bragging about how he'll take on "Big Tobacco"
Despite recent setbacks, big tobacco still pays the bills for a lot of people in NC.
So the question is, will people vote for someone who's promised to bankrupt them?
Just because of longstanding prejudices?
How long will people let hatred get in the way of their financial best interests?
Seriously, I'd like to know.

3. You expect a politician to be able to do something about big oil? |
|
Best laugh I've had all day.
I apologize in advance if you were actually serious

4. What I'm saying is that McCain's priorities are a bit fucked up |
|
Gas prices effect everyone. When it gets to the point that some people have to decide between their medication and filling up their gas tank so they can get to work then there are problems.
And trying to take on tobacco companies in North Carolina is like trying to roller skate on a gravel road.

From all his ads to choose from, the big tobacco ad in NC is an odd choice. Others on this thread are right too...when gas is $4 a gallon, it's not big tobacco people are concerned about at the moment.

6. I'm pretty sure it's a national ad |
|
I just wonder what goes through the minds of some of this state's admittedly very racist voters when they see the ad.
What are they gonna do on election day?

7. I haven't seen it yet if it is |

The only McCain ad I've been seeing (and only when watching the Olympics) is his anti-Obama ad. If he's running others nationally, I haven't seen them. I'm in TX so I'm pretty sure he's not wasting money on ads targeted for my state.

8. They will vote for him because hes NOT a "flamin lubrul" |
|
or because hes not "black" (said in whispered tones). It wont be because they have done their homework and found out that he is anti-middle class or a war monger.

9. Being a war monger isn't a bad thing in a lot of parts of NC |
|
But declaring war on one of the state's major sources of income is.
