How many DUers are just now starting to realize what an incredible moment in time this is?
I mean, it's just starting to really hit me what's happened here; a woman and a man of mixed race met head-to-head in a fierce race--to win the opportunity to take on the white, male, legacy-driven, privileged status quo in Washington DC?

If you've got a kid like I do (and he, like Obama, is mixed race), they will grow up thinking that a person of color or a woman is not an unusual presidential candidate at all--and yet I'm still a bit (very pleasantly) astonished. When the primary race started, I honestly gave neither one a chance but I cheered them on for their chutpah to take on the Establishment, even if neither one was my first or even second choice (Biden, Edwards, in that order).

Now, I'm voting for one of them. Wow! The thought just makes me really happy.

Pardon me if I choose to savor this moment before we kick the status quo to the Pennsylvania Avenue curb, willya?

I'm just very happy about all of this; at my age I'm not easily astonished but I almost feel like this is my very first trip to the election booth--and what a thrill that was... :patriot: :bounce:

Thanks for your time, you may continue with your normal angst now...

1. Just about every deli and bodega in Newburgh NY is selling Obama wear
I just bought an Obama Time Mag tee shirt and a tee shirt that says "He is black and I am proud". I gave one to my girlfriend and one to my sister.

2. That Was How I Felt In January / February
And is a really, really huge part of my resentment of where we've been ever since.

5. I'm just kinda worn out with the divisiveness
Especially the last few days. I'm tired of it. I thought for sure The "Unity Statement" and HRC's pledge would make a difference to The Cadre, but it doesn't. It never will. What's the point in trying?

:sigh:

You know I don't mean you.
