New e-mail "Obama's Plane" smear. I did a beautiful smackdown. |
|
Was sent this this morning and at the top "Snopes" says it's true. Okay, it's about Obama's new plane and it doesn't have the American Flag on it! Gasp, his logo is on there where the flag should be, he's unpatriotic, self-centered, etc. the same crapola. This from someone who doesn't really read these things, doesn't research, just forwards them on to Democrats like me.
Well, I checked Snopes. And it's true, the flag is not at the tail of the plane BECAUSE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT ON NORTH AMERICAN AIRLINES PLANE. Anyway, Snopes has the picture of Obama's plane, with the flag clearly shown near the plane registration numbers. It's Obama's own plane, not a chartered one by a major airline that he used during the primaries.
Always check the "Snopes says it's true" yourself. I answered her calmly: D----, I fear you are entering the "low-information" part of your political experience. Please read Snopes carefully before passing this nonsense on. I would have sent "reply to all" (which works beautifully by the way) but I was the only named in the mail.

2. I've used this argument before... |
|
and this was the response I received:
"As you probably already know, the information found in Snopes is also the product of someone’s opinion just like practically everything else found on the internet."

3. Are they trying to paint Snopes as part of the (non-existent) "Librul media" now?? |
|
If Snopes has any ideological bias at all, it would be to the right. At least when it comes to accepting the "official" 9-11 story as "fact" vs any alternative theories.

I've even had the same person send later emails that stated "It's true! I even Snoped it!"
Unbelievable...

6. North American Airlines owns a copyright on the U.S. Flag? |
|
That's kind of hard to believe.

8. It isn't an American flag. It's a logo incorporating a stylized flag. |
|
McDonald's doesn't own a copyright on the letter M, but just try opening your own restaurant with a Golden Arches out front.

9. No, no but I believe the design of it on the tail (it's a "wavy flag").. |
|
The complaint was that Obama did not have the flag on the tail, but the logo. His flag is by the reg. numbers.

7. My father sent a great response to one of these. |
|
He was so proud of his wit that he sent it to me:
The 'flag' that was painted over on the tail of the A/C was in fact NOT a US flag. The blue field of our noble US flag has alternating columns of stars of either 5 or 4 stars each to make up to a total of 50. The corporate logo on the tail of the North American Airlines aircraft has single columns of 5 stars, that based on their spacing, if proportional, would not add up to 50.
Is it that those who are perpetuating this ridiculous non-issue wish we were back in the past prior to having 50 states? Is this a cry for return to days of the Jim Crow laws when a black man knew his place? Or perhaps a desire to return even further to days of slavery? I shudder to think of the true motives of those that originated and continue to propagate this attack.
The flag that I proudly served under and proudly fly on my house represents freedom for all peoples of all 50 states. I am happy that Obama painted over that corporate logo and replaced it with one that we can ALL agree upon: a nuclear fireball rising over the shredded remnants of Old Glory.

10. There are no flags on the so-called straight talk express.... |
|
..and the McCain jet is a JetBlue aircraft...no flags...why are we even discussing this? (not the OPs fault, but why are "people" discussing it.)

12. John McCain isn't patriotic because he doesn't have a flag tattooed on his forehead |
|
Until McCain tattoos the American flag on his forehead I can only surmise that he hates Amerika and is working to sell us out to Georgia. Didn't you hear him claim recently that "we are all Georgians"? I won't trust that frucker until he gets the tattoo, then I'll know that he loves Amerika.
