Why Are We Asking Questions like "Does Evil Exist"??? |
|
Why aren't we asking questions like "how will you protect the economy?" "how will you help us transfer towards alternative fuels?"
I mean, I am a Christian and my faith is very important to me but some of these questions just seem stupid.
I'm sick of us electing leaders because we want to eat dinner with them.

2. Exactly right, musicblind. |
|
And I think the reason we are is that no one knows WTF to do about the economy, the fuel crisis. Or even worse, these decisions have already been made without the input of the American people and the election is just a beauty contest.

3. I have to admit, "Does Evil Exist" certainly sounds like an onstage question at a beauty pageant |

9. Or a topic for a philosophy class. They should have asked, "Does trickle down economics exist?" |

10. The answer to that is "Yes." I know, because I personally was trickled on. |
|
It wasn't pretty, but it sure was Republican

4. Hello? This was a faith forum put on by Warren. The debates haven't happened yet |
|

Is introduced by the preacher telling a bald faced lie, what does this say about the nature of 'faith' and the 'faithful'? Now there is a question.

6. Actually, Obama's answer to that question was the most powerful of the night. |
|
It was a testament to his authentic Christian beliefs and stood in stark contrast to McCain's shallow grandstanding.
We must "confront it". But man will never defeat all evil, only God.

8. considering "evil" went unexamined in our political discourse |
|
from Regean's "evil empire' to chimpy's "axis of evil", and the "Sadamm was evil" was excuse #236 for invading iraq, i think it is an appropriate question to ask in a religious forum.

11. That was a "Will you protect us" question... |
|
As in, "Will you invade and destroy the Axis of Evil, or are you a fraidycat?"
These were all political questions, with perfect rightwing framing, posed (somewhat) as "faith" questions.
