Why isn't Lindsey Graham ever mentioned on a McCain short list?
Or would he come along with his co-joined twin, Lieberman?

He's always been out there working hard for McCain, almost as though he's trying to get the VP job. Anybody know why he's apparently not viable?

Thanks. Curious minds want to know.

2. Because the GOP would never allow a gay man on their presidential ticket.
In SC many of the antigay politicos call him Miss Lindsey behind his back, though they know it is their job to make sure he wins.

10. Rumor is that Lindsey is a little light in his loafers
Not that there's anything wrong with that, whatever it means.

27. I wasn't aware that there were some that still considered it just a "rumor"
Not, as you say, that there's anything wrong with him being gay of course.

5. Ugh - that asshole Liberman sure seems quite attached to McCain, doesn't he?
I was watching our local news here in Orlando, they were showing McCain at some emergency planning meeting (his fundraiser in south Florida got cancelled, so he came up here). Right there at his side was that Wormtongue Lieberman.

That sure would be interesting though. We could ironically ride the anti-gay vote to victory.

Any amount of bigotry to win an election.

24. I'd leave that to others.
Being gay myself, of course I'm understanding of the difficulties closeted people may have. But I am also rather unsympathetic to those holding the closet door shut with one hand and keeping others down with the other.

31. People who would stand by and let that type of bigotry go on
are lower than the bigots themselves. Being gay does not allow you to determine what hatred you will allow and that you will fight.

11. Lindsey Graham basically is John McCain. He doesn't expand the ticket.
Whisper smear campaigns against him aside, I think they're assuming that McCain has a lock on the Deep South, where Graham would most help. Strategically, they have to look to the midwest, which is the Republicans' soft underbelly.

17. Oh c'mon. We know why. If they think the country is having a
time of it electing the first African American man, what would that same segment of the country do when the GOP VP nominee is "outed"?

He's ok for carry-on luggage, but he's not going to get into the White House as a Republican!

18. I know it's been said a million times already, but I want to feel included. Graham is gay.
Not that there is a problem with that, but for the Republicans...well, not going to work.

19. The man is closeted gay
Not that I have a problem with a gay man being my vice-president, but it would destroy the republican ticket if it was publically outed that his is gay. Might as well make Larry Craig the VP

21. Graham is a dick, but I would be a bit pissed if I were him
He and Lieberman are ALWAYS on the Sunday talk shows, and even Liebermonster had gotten some "VP buzz. It's not like Bobby Jindal ever stood a REAL chance of being McCain's VP, but you would think that McCain would at least return the favor of surrogatedom for some VP buzz, even if it is not authentic. I'm not sure if it's bc, like some posters have stated, that there are whispers about his sexuality (which is a big "no no" to those assholes), bc the same thing goes for charlie christ, and he got some VP chatter for a while.

then the GOP would run him instead of McCain. Same guy in a younger package.
