~"A Kerry campaign official admits-1st purple heart-self inflicted"?? |
|
Edited on Wed Aug-25-04 08:49 AM by underpants
Sorry I couldn't fit this whole close quote into the headline.
I heard Major Garrett tell Brit Hume at the end of his fair and balanced report Monday night that "and a Kerry campaign official admits that his first Purple Heart medal could have been the result of an unintentional self-inflicted wound". No transcript of that broadcast is on Fox yet.
Huh? Did I miss that news story?
Then I heard Pawn Hannity say the same as an aside (but as if it is an accepted FACT) yesterday afternoon.
Is this in the "some people say......" "it has been reported...." or Novak and Hannity's "my liberal friends(some Dems I know) say....." type thing?

3. "some people say"...I'm really tired of that line. |
|
How to respond to that? It's tricky. Do you ask immediately if the speaker believes it(ala Chris Matthews) or do you respond flippantly ala, "some people say that aliens run the government and that the world is flat". Just saying things doesn't make it true and the wretched media never calls them on it.

5. It is a Drudge thing ... |
|
... and it has been debunked. Someone had a good link to Kerry's service records ....
Also TWO of his boatmates have refuted this charge. Say Kerry was under fire ....

6. It seems the best to say "what a WILD conspiracy theory!" when someone |
|
brings up such an idiotic notion in public.
We here know all this is lies... but american teevee watchers are, after all, american teevee watchers.

|
that was the first one where they weren't sure there was enemy fire. It doesn't matter though. It's earned either way. This is such a non-story. It goes back to Dole bouncing a grenade off a tree. He earned his too.

If you Google "Purple Heart criteria" you will find it states, "A self inflicted wound, in the heat of battle, not involving gross negligence" qualifies for the award.

10. I'm so tired of the Swift Boats story |
|
I know why they are pushing it; it's traditional Rovian politics, but it's still annoying as hell. Bryant Check it out --> http://politicalcomment.blogspot.com

19. "Traditional Rove tactics" is right: |
|
Bush-Style Politics, AgainBy Sam Parry August 19, 2004 This year’s general election campaign is taking on the trademark stamp of every Bush national campaign since 1988: attack politics that tear down the Bush opponent while a compliant Washington press corps can’t believe the Bush family would play dirty.
In 1988, Massachusetts Gov. Michael Dukakis faced Republican attacks suggesting he had undergone psychiatric care, favored dangerous criminals and lacked patriotism. In 1992, the Republicans went on a search for a “silver bullet” against Arkansas Gov. Bill Clinton, which included searching his passport file and leaking false rumors that he had tried to renounce his U.S. citizenship.
In 2000, Sen. John McCain confronted whispers about his sanity after five years in a North Vietnamese prisoner-of-war camp and mysterious phone calls about his “black” baby (a child he had adopted from Bangladesh). Vice President Al Gore saw his words so twisted that they were used to justify Republican claims that he was “delusional” and thus unfit to serve as President.
Now, it’s Sen. John Kerry’s turn. On one level, the Bush campaign presents Kerry as confused and inconsistent about his ability to make decisions on war and other issues. In a parallel operation, a conservative group of Vietnam veterans accuses Kerry of lying about his war record as the Bush campaign neither condemns nor discourages the smears.----more--- http://www.consortiumnews.com/2004/081904.html

11. "Self Inflicted Wound" - They are counting on this being misinterpreted!!! |
|
"Self Inflicted Wound" is a military classification term...not a term of judgement or criticism.
SBV want you to think this means Kerry shot himself in the foot on purpose to get a medal.
No.
I think they are refering to a grenade that Kerry fired too close to shore. Rocks and shrapnel flew back an hit Kerry.
"Self Inflicted Wound", "Friendly Fire" - wounds that occur in battle - but not necessarily inflicted by the enemy...

15. I am assuming that that is an offshoot of him calling Dole |
|
and telling him that he DID bleed-which is in itself a horrible and desperate spin.
I DID TOO BLEED BOB!
Like that. :eyes:
