I first used the word Swiftboating today and it wasn't in reference to lying.
I was posting in reference to a post of a piece by a POW (and I have no argument with the post; I would have posted the piece myself if I'd run across it) and not posting in reference to the Cross issue. That was my analogy. Fellow vets criticized Kerry, and it was called Swiftboating. A fellow prisoner criticized McCain.

I was offline most of the day and came online to the POW post at the top of the Greatest Page with 150 recs or so. I was then told, which I much appreciated, that the story "de jour" was the Cross story, and that most responders to my post thought that's what I was posting about. That was not the case. I'm sorry if I, so to speak, missed the Boat.

Feel free to carry on any criticism you'd like to aim in my direction. Just clarifying.

Here's a link to my post:

I made it clear in the post that I knew my position would be an unpopular one. I in no way called for anyone to shush about anything. I said I thought what I considered a form of Swiftboating would be counterproductive. It was a personal statement, as I stated, that I wanted to make. I didn't expect, or even think much about, changing anyone else's mind.
