Poll question: Which likely VP pick would piss off the LEAST number of DU'ers?
Edited on Mon Aug-18-08 11:58 PM by Bicoastal
Wesley Clark isn't on here, since it's pretty clear he won't get the nomination, but I sense he'd win this poll easily...ditto Mark Warner.

1. Other: Carl Levin.
It seems they're looking for a loyal Dem with lots of Washington experience + foreign policy and military experience who also voted against the IWR.

The list is quite short.

6. Oh, please ...

We got people here who graduated magna cum laude in Pissed Off.

And no VP pick would satisfy them.

None.

7. IF this forum were still truly representative of the party as a whole -- which it isn't, since so
many Clinton supporters were driven away -- then Clinton would be the choice who'd piss off the least number of DUers.

But since this forum is dominated by people who came to view Clinton as The Enemy standing between Obama and the nomination, she isn't viewed the same way here as she is in the party overall.

15. And if Clinton hadn't run such an offensive campaign, she might be the choice also.
But she did, so now she isn't.

17. You don't seem to understand that her supporters don't feel that Obama's campaign
was any "less offensive" than hers.

Nor are you likely to ever understand that in a Clinton-hating echo chamber.

9. I'd be stoked if Obama surprised us with either Clark or Warner!

Early on.. way back... LOOOOoOOONg before any of the candidates announced, Mark Warner launched the "Forward Together PAC" and he was debating whether to make a run for president or not.

Welp..

Being one of the original Clarkies from way back when, I thought.. damn...

What a ticket that would be.. Warner/Clark .. PERFECT!

But.. it wasn't meant to be.

Well. Maybe it was meant to be... but it didn't happen.

I realize Governor Warner is now deadset on becoming the next U.S. Senator in Virginia, and General Clark also seems to be out of the running..

But wouldn't it be awesome if we were all SHOCKED and one of them actually turned out to be the pick!

I know.. I know... quit dreaming.

10. I don't see how Richardson would piss anybody off now
He and Hillary seem to have made peace since the whole "Judas" thing a couple months back, so I don't see any reason for her former supporters to hold a grudge.

(No I'm not talking about the pharma-funded kitty cult types. Who gives a fuck what they think?)

14. Michael Phelps
Although I'm sure that someone would point out that swimming is an elitist sport and that the Republicans would have a field day with a guy who wears a body suit to go in the water.

19. Al Gore. He seems a very remote chance, to be sure, but I
think he's the person a majority of Democrats would agreeably support.

Russ Feingold a very respectable second.

21. Am I the only one who thinks the VP choice is a very minor decision?
Doesn't matter, VP's do almost nothing, unless the president dies. The VP choice has almost no impact in the voting booth.
