Wash Post Story On Cross-Gate - McCain's Lifting of the Story
Edited on Tue Aug-19-08 12:29 PM by Median Democrat
Here is is:

http://blogs.cqpolitics.com/politicalinsider/2008/08/is-mccain-now-copying-solzheni.html

/snip

Last week, a speech by Sen. John McCain had phrases that were likely lifted directly from Wikipedia.

Now it seems McCain may have lifted another story last night at megachurch pastor Rick Warren's Faith Forum. According to a very persuasive Daily Kos diary, the anecdote McCain told about a North Vietnamese prison guard making a cross in the dirt as a sign of solidarity -- or as he said, "just two Christians worshiping together" -- is very similar to a story about Alexander Solzhenitsyn and his times in the Soviet Gulags.

"As Solzhenitsyn stared at the Cross drawn in the dirt his entire perspective changed. He knew he was only one man against the all-powerful Soviet empire. Yet he knew there was something greater than the evil he saw in the prison camp, something greater than the Soviet Union. He knew that hope for all people was represented by that simple Cross. Through the power of the Cross, anything was possible."

/snip

The story is still confined to blogs, but hopefully we get a more substantial treating my the press. I still think there is massive attempt to cover it up, and the MSM is sitting on the story to give McCain time to come up with a plausible explanation.

1. Question: Did anyone sit on "Snipergate" waiting for Hillary's explanation?
Yeah, I thought not!

What a joke!

2. Well sniper gate came with video showing what a farce it was
This one not so much. Very difficult to prove this one is a lie.

4. Don't you think verbatim text drawn from another source is equally compelling?
Has our country sunk so low that now ALL people can understand is video? You do know videos can be altered? Just because it's on tape...doesn't mean it's true!

My gosh, stories published years ago by other authors have to count! As a country, we have truly sunk to the lowest level of stupidity possible!

They're terrified of this narrative.

If the Wasington Post doubts the veracity, it's going to end up on prime time, and they don't want that.
