More Proof Dems Don't Understand Language/Image... |
|
I know I harp on this quite a bit, but I get so disappointed in how the Dems lose so much by not studying linquistics and psychology.
To me, Howard Dean brought so much to the Dems these past two years and brought to our attention a man named George Lakoff, but the Dems seem so slow on the uptake.
Here is an example : the visual images of Karl Rove, Dick Cheney and Tom Delay - especially Karl Rove. Just looking at him makes my skin crawl. He is visually disgusting and the Dems should use that. Tom Delay is oily and Dick Cheney a complete slime.
Though things are looking pretty favorable to us right now, we Dems need to understand these concepts better.

4. Cheney would not be ugly in complete repose |
|
However, when he's awake and functioning, what he is shows very clearly on his face. The same is true for the whole Bush team, at least the ones over 40.
Greed, selfishness, and a lack of compassion always write their message on a person's face eventually. It has nothing to do with standards of beauty or ugliness.
THAT is what the Dems need to undrestand and USE.

2. Which proof are you referring to? |

I think Kerry/Edwards/Teresa/Elizabeth have done fabulously with maximizing the attractive visual images.
As to language, they're doing pretty well too, IMO.

3. Bill Moyers had a story about that. |
|
He talked about how by the Republicans using the word "tax relief" they were able to frame it as a problem that they could help. I heard a Bush campaign spokesperson use it to frame tort reform. I believe he used the term lawsuit relief.

5. Lakoff: "Don't think of an elephant" |

Dean uses this Lakoff philosophy very well. See, you just thought of an elephant.

what are you smoking? It's a knife edge country and it would only take a thimble of fraud to tip this for the cabal. We need to fix anything that is weak.

7. Problem for us ....even if we win |

We deal in logic and fact and they deal with propaganda emotion. Thisis why karl Rove is so dangerous.
