Would Biden help in Ohio?
His working class roots, Irish-Catholic background could play well in some parts of Ohio, right?

1. O'bama doesn't need help because he is Irish himself.
But seriously there are lots of demographics. I just hope mcstupid choses lieberman for the Jewish vote. mcstupid will NEVER get the majority of the Jewish vote.

3. Does Biden have the feel of a "working class" guy?
I never thought so. Not criticizing him, just saying that I never got that blue-collar vibe from him.

But that's just me.

4. Nothing about Biden today says "working class."
From his lifetime in Washington to his silk front pocket handkerchief. Its hard to think of a candidate with less working class appeal.

5. im from ohio
I like him...but then I liked Kerry and Edwards and Dean....Ohio is hard to place...I do think Obama is doing better here than Kerry did..I know a few more republicans that will voting for him...not a great indicator...but at this point I will take what I can get.

9. I think that his roots plus the fact that his son is in the National
Guard and is probably in Iraq if his unit deployed this year as they were slated to. Not 100% sure on that, but I know he was supposed to be going sometime this year.

12. I don't know...
How did a NAFTA supporting, working class hating, president win in Ohio?

13. By default (both candidates in '04, supported NAFTA...)
When NAFTA supporter number 1 opposes NAFTA supporter number 2, then a NAFTA supporter will undoubtedly win the presidency.

It does not follow from this, however, that being a NAFTA supporter is an advantage in the economically devastated rustbelt. :wtf:

20. NAFTA is not an ala carte menu. So being "far more pro-NAFTA" makes no sense. BOTH support it. nt

21. Your argument fails.
Since both McCain and Obama are in support of it, adding Biden won't hurt him there...so why even say it will?

haha

22. VPs are supposed to add a dimension that the candidate for prez lacks...
My whole point is that Biden, as a NAFTA/Bankruptcy Bill of 2005 supporter, adds little to nothing to the ticket with respect to economic issues important to rustbelt voters...

14. Not to be rude but he's male and white...
Most of these Ohio folk would think that that was two steps in the right direction.

17. Nope.
And he won't help in Virginia or New Mexico or Arizona or Florida.

I don't dislike Biden. I think he's very smart, but he's not going to help.

18. Fear card will be played everywhere, as well as stupid macho posturing.
Still need foreign policy, and not as SoS. I wish all Dems would give a good accounting on the trail, know our candidate, want him to win. A VP shouldn't be this important, but shoring up reassurance is important, after all the negatives from the other side.

I wish CNN played the critical part of the VA speech. Direct hit on judgment and what's at stake. That speech needs to go viral.
