Give up? I gave up on Obama's campaign TWICE in the primaries.
After he lost Nevada, a week or so after also losing New Hampshire, I thought Obama was finished. All of the polls concurred. Together, the two Clintons seemed unstoppable. In fact, I wrote a teary, heartbroken post on GD-Primaries--titled "I give up," if I remember correctly--and prepared myself for Clinton to sweep Super Tuesday and win the nomination.

And then he tied Hillary on Super Tuesday, and swept Virginia, Delaware, Maine, Wisconsin, DC, etc.

Then, a few months later, Reverend Wright came up. This is it, I thought back then, this is the disaster that will redefine Barack for the worse and cause Hillary to gain the upper hand. There's no way even the most fleet-footed politician can survive an "angry black preacher," and once again, all of the polls concurred. Hello, nominee Clinton.

And the tide turned once again. Hello, nominee Obama.

I know what you're all going to say. This is the GE, not the Primaries. It's less than three months 'til the election. McCain's defined him instead of the other way around. The attack ads worked. The response attacks failed. We never should have gone with a black guy. We should have gone with Hillary. It's done, it's over, and all of the polls concur.

And to you I say, the reports of Obama's demise are greatly exaggerated. Wait and see.

3. I gave up in Nov 2007, and after NV
I'm confident in his campaign, just not as confident in his politics.

6. I thought he was done after Rev. Wright.
I remember sitting in front of the tv right before Obama's speech. I had tears in my eyes because I just knew it was over. The media, everyone, was enjoying tearing down a good man. They were practically gleeful. I knew there was no way Obama could come back from that. But he did.

Is the Zogby poll upsetting? Yeah. But Obama was on vacation, Russia and Georgia blew up, and McCain had a free ride. Obama still has his vp announcement to go. And then comes Denver. And if there was ever anything I've been sure of, it's that Obama is going to ignite an entire stadium and deliver the speech of his life.

7. And all those inflection points mandated tactical changes
Suggesting Obama is doing things wrong isn't the same as giving up on his chances.

If the Obama campaign thought like its strongest DU defenders it would never make a course correction.

I think there's a distinction to be drawn between "Obama is messing up" and "Obama is going to lose."

10. It's kinda surreal for me to even realize that we're less than 3 months away from Election Day.
I never gave up on his campaign but I have to admit that I have been discouraged or near despair by some of the crap that gets pulled. But then I always get re-inspired or hopeful again by some of the good things I do see.

11. Has Anyone Talked About Giving Up?
I never gave up on Kerry, either. He didn't become president.
