Something is dreadfully wrong! PRESIDENT MCCAIN is looming larger.
Some headlines:

John McCain poised to become White House front-runner - www.telegraph.co.uk

Polls give McCain lead over Obama, show support for four-day government work week - www.bizjournals.com

McCain Moving Up In Polls, Takes 5 Point Lead In Zogby National Survey - www.usnews.com

Obama and McCain in a statistical tie - www.latimes.com

NBC/WSJ Poll: McCain halves Obama's lead - www.msnbc.msn.com

----

You know, everyone hates what Bush and his pissants have done to the whole world.
The Republicans have proved that they are a bunch of hypocritical, incompetent, asses.

McCain is one more incompetent ass and reveals it clearly in his campaign.

Obama is inspiring, intelligent, and honest.

so...

McCain is becoming the people's choice. They would rather have another incompetent Republican
slob in the White House than an inspiring Democrat.

Some of the issues are that Obama is a person of color, his name is off-putting,
and he has not been in Washington politics as long as some.
These are issues that can't be avoided but are but they shouldn't be enough to push the
population into voting for another 4 to 8 years of Republican mis-management.

What's going on here?
What is making the country want to hold on to Bush world even though they hate it?

---

Alright, I'm going to try I sit back and try to sense how I would feel if I were not interested in the campaigns. If I just absorbed info through media that I can't avoid.

Obama comes off as sharp and slick, if you don't listen to what he says but just get an image through the media, and through McCain's campaign. The slick, inspiring leader fits the Hollywood stereotype of a manipulative, dishonest villain, someone who has a dark or empty core underneath the shining surface.

McCain, on the other hand, comes off as bumbling but ordinary. The media and the Obama campaign characterize him as a nice, honest, but not too sharp, guy. He has flaws but they are the same flaws you and I have. He is someone in a plain wrapper, but you'd better not cross him because he will fight back if challenged, just like you or I would.

I believe the majority of voters don't vote based on policies or ideas. They vote on images based on emotions. McCain is not being linked closely to the criminal Republicans or to Bush so he seems like a nice neighborly guy. That's why a lot of people voted for Bush, he seemed like a nice neighborly guy at the time.

Obama is someone from a different world. Someone who resides high up in some rich and inaccessible Olympus. Someone who is not part of your world so you don't like the idea of him running your life. (I'm talking about an image some people may have here, remember. Of course I personally don't believe this at all.)

It seems that if Obama is to win, McCain must be linked to the Republicans and Bush, and linked tightly! He can't be allowed to remain a nice guy who isn't really part of the Republican mob. Refuting his policies alone does not create an image of someone who will continue to take us down the hellish path that Bush started us on.

Also Obama needs to seem more accessible. Not so airy and ethereal and distant. I don't know how exactly he can achieve this because I know that he is very accessible, real, and honest but I pay attention. Most people don't pay attention and I feel they are getting a different Obama than I do.

Obama must be sold to the people that don't care about politics or policies. People that don't pay attention. There are a lot of them in this country and each of their votes count just as strongly as anyone elses.

12. Their Parent Corporations' Agenda Trumps Ad Revenue and Ratings
GE makes more off of the war than they ever could make off of NBC.
The primary mission of NBC is to promote policies beneficial to GE.

Same for the other networks, more or less.

20. No. It's up to the Obama team to give the media something they want to use...
and make sure it supports the right message.

2. Well, then Obama better DO something. He's certainly aware of the polls.
We should be WAY ahead. It's worrisome.

11. As I see it --it's either A)racism, B)inaccurate polling, or C)a rigged system
The good part is that Obama has run a very strong campaign so far and has led all summer.

We'd all like him to be 20 pts up (and he should be if this were at all fair) but I guess it's not...unless they're not doing a good job polling.

And, there is indication the polling is off. Obama will easily win MN and WI, probably by double digits, and yet that isn't reflected in any poll.

21. But what if the polling is NOT rigged? You have to assume it's not and work to turn it around.

13. Well, he's right about one thing.
People really do vote for personalities, not ideas.

Barack needs to destroy McCain's character, not just his policies. Tell us he is reckless and lacks judgmenet BECAUSE of his policies, not just that his policies are wrong.

And for God's sake cut out the "I honor his service" bullshit.

But who knows, maybe Barack plans to do this eventually. He's making everyone think he's soft so he can go in for the kill later.

15. I hear he is running scared.
The "cross in the sand" plagiarism act he committed - has him missing... something? A couple teeth? Was it a knockout blow? Just because a tree doesn't make a sound... and the media is quiet? Some rearranging going on probably with the truth coming out about Georgia.

unify around McCain. Hell, even Hannity is pushing him. One thing about rethugs, they know how to unify their party, even though it is in tatters after 8 years of Bush.

Obama has failed to unite the dem party. He has made the 2 biggest mistakes:

1. Never take any votes for granted;

2. Never underestimate your opponent;

There's still time.............right now things seem to be 50/50........

18. repubs didn't unite behind mccain
so much as they united against obama.
obama being a newcomer is having a bit of difficulty bringing the undecideds to his side.
in the end the the majority of repub voters can be counted on to vote for the gop nominee or at the very least to vote against the democrat.
the democrats on the other hand fracture into pieces.

Two months ago they were singing a different tune and thought they wouldn't have a chance. But now they smell blood in the water and are uniting to defeat Obama, not because they like McCain!

27. Your links just show Obama leading in 2 of 3 polls. Headlines were just hype.
Edited on Wed Aug-20-08 11:08 PM by GoesTo11
1 poll (Zogby, which has been discussed elsewhere) has McCain + 5 -- this is what 3 of the linked articles are about.
1 article had Obama plus 2 ("statistical tie")
1 had Obama plus 3 (lead halved)

That's it.

One Zogby poll with bizarre internals does not something dreadfully wrong make.
