Clark will be at the convention. He's live blogging NOW
He's at the Washington Times. Just responded to this question:

Question:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gen. Clark, are you really not participating in the Democratic convention, and why not? Thanks. by cbellantoni
Answer: I will be at the Convention as soon as I finish some business requirements in Europe that I simply couldn't reschedule. I should be there on Thursday as things now stand. by Wesley_Clark

We know things change moment by moment! Could a possible change be Wednesday instead of Thursday??? Damn, I hope so!

Seems all the rumors about him not being there, being snubbed by the Obama campaign were all wrong.

Deliberate red herrings possibly?

One can hope!

16. Is Clark in Europe right now?
Remember, the Veep doesn't only have to be in Denver next Wednesday, but also in Springfield Illinois on Saturday. And more than likely on camera with Obama tomorrow when the announcement is made.

If the General is out of the country, that can't be him. But it's good that he'll be in Denver for Obama's speech, and hopefully will be part of the administration in some capacity.

General Clark's earlier comments indicated that he did not then have plans to be at the Convention, though that was subject to possible change. Seems it changed. General Clark still has no announced role at the convention. We shall see.

50. Here is the direct link and quote...
http://www.dailykos.com/comments/2008/8/16/152850/162/66#c66

He kept the date open... (57+ / 0-)

For a long time but we have a very active business that he needs to travel a lot for. He wasn't invited to speak at the convention. I'm sure somebody in his office called the campaign and asked if he was going to be invited to speak because he needs to book meetings for that week if he isn't in Denver. Apparently the answer that came back was no.

It's not a fake out or some secret plan, he isn't going to be VP or probably anything else in an Obama administration, assuming he's elected.

What he is going to do is go out and campaign for Obama and plenty of Democrats in house and senate races this Fall.

I know some you think you can change this by launching VP diaries a couple times a day in hopes that Obama will be swayed by the "netroots." Dude, when has that ever worked with this campaign?

It's a beautiful day. Go outside and get some sun

The language in this quote is pretty clear and pretty bitter. I don't think it was too far of a leap to say that the Clarks' felt they had been dissed.

Although in reality, if you find the other thread on this topic, you will see that many of us doubted the factual correctness of it and made allowances for IF it was true.. but, heck... Wes Clark Jr is a pretty good source for Wes Clark information.

49. That "pretty good source" was wrong and, yes, dubious.
As you said, many doubted the factual correctness of it and that in itself would make the info "dubious".

I am a college English instructor and a fairly well-known grammar guru. Once in the 1980s, when writing a response from Santa to my little boy's letter, I spelled "Santa Claus" as "Santa Clause". Sure, I know better, but the word "clause" comes as naturally to me as my own name.

56. Not to me
Clark has always been effective at working to peel voters away from the Republican world view by challenging their negative preconceived notions about Democrats. He does that by leaving the choir behind and instead preaching in the Lion's den. I think of Clark sometimes as a secular missionary for the Democratic Party.
