Any major screwups at the GOP convention??? |
|
or will it run smoothly?
remember during our convention you had the photos of Kerry in the blue nasa suit coming out that the media jumped all over, then you had the balloon guy cursing, caused minor ripples I guess. All pretty much forgotten now.
what we need is a wingnut to come unhinged while giving a speech. Something we can seize on.

3. I wonder if any protestors.. |
|
...will be able to infiltrate the convention?? What are the chances?
Aren't there people who have volunteered to help who are really democrats, or is that just wishful thinking?

4. Is it true that Bush will speak from behind a bubble? |
|
Kind of a stationary version of the Pope-mobile, from what I've heard? Is this true?
If so, I'd say hammer away at this one. How safe is America if he can't speak at his own convention -- indoors! -- without hiding behind bullet-proof glass?

10. Well, it's in the NY Daily News... |
|
... so it must be true! W's super & secret platform BY MAGGIE HABERMAN DAILY NEWS CITY HALL BUREAU When President Bush accepts the Republican nomination in two weeks, he will enter Madison Square Garden on a specially made blast- and bullet-proof stage, the Daily News has learned. The platform is being constructed off-site from the Garden, sources said.
"It's a whole different" stage from the one that will be used during the other hours of the Republican National Convention, which runs from Aug. 30 through Sept. 2, the night Bush arrives, said one source. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/story/223982p-192424c.html

6. They have to fill 8 hours a day for 4 days |
|
It's pretty much guaranteed we'll get some outrageous wingnut and fundy speeches outside of primetime. The media won't report on them, so it's pretty much up to us.

7. They will definitely play off the demonstrators outside. Probably |
|
even stir them up or plant "phonies" who will do outrageous things that they can blame on the crazy Kerry followers.

The lineup of entertainment indicates another pathetic attempt to pander to whitebread America.

11. Plenty of fantasies in my head, |
|
like John McCain "misspeaking" and saying he is proud to nominate John Kerry, but there is one thing I can actually see happening, and that is a Trent Lott moment. Something that initially sounds innocuous and isn't picked up on right off the bat, but gets noticed and becomes a huge story. That would be great. If it was interesting enough it could dominate coverage.
