"journalist" whining questions at Cleland. Cleland managed to deflect it all very nicely.
Don't kid yourself. Today was a PR disaster for the Bush gang, as evidenced by the way they hustled Scott McLellan out at the last minute, after Cleland's press conference had shown them that sending the gardener to deal with an annoying peasant at the gate hadn't been the smartest thing they've ever done.
The final nail in the Smear Boat coffin could be driven home if Kerry would get off his dead arse and sue Regenery for libel. He's got a fantastic case, and letting it slide is tacit admission that the smear might be true.

She might as well have been demanding he apologize for the very thought of questioning Fearless Leader. It was incredible.
Many careers are going to be thrown on the pyre in the next few weeks, and many eminences grises like Dole will leave ugly blots on their reputations. This is desperate and will only get worse.
Glad you pointed this out; I was watching it live (she was off-screen) and couldn't believe my ears.
And yes, I done coined that werd...

It's not a freeper site...both sides are represented...but there are a few who want to dominate the boards with right wing talking points...!
Yes...you are correct about an obscure site...but...it's also on Free Republic...so it's starting to pick up steam...
------------------------------- John Kerry returned from Vietnam and had something on his mind. He felt the war in Vietnam was wrong, and was willing to say something. If the story ended here, I'd have respect for the man.
Kerry took his opinion a step further, and crossed the line when he started talking about the soldiers who were still fighting in Vietnam. When Kerry openly disrespected every soldier in Vietnam, he went from an opionated American to an American who just made a few enemies.
But in doing so, he was ok. Being an American citizen gives you the right to voice your opinion. It also gives you the right to suffer any consequences that may come your way based on your willingness to share an opinion!
The Swift Boat Veterans also have a right. They have the right to give their side of the story. They were unable to voice their side because while John Kerry was in the United States, the veterans were still fighting in Vietnam! They didn't have the option of being slightly injured three times and receiving a ticket out of the arena!
The SBV's have remained silent for the most part for many years in regards to John Kerry. They have allowed him to hold public office without going public with their opinion of him, as Kerry did with his opinion of the soldiers during the Vietnam war.
Kerry had his opportunity to give him opinion. But now that the veterans want to share their opinions, John Kerry, the Kerry/Edwards campaign and the Democratic party are going to extreme lengths to shut the mouths of the veterans!
The same right Kerry knew he was taking advantage of as he disrespected every American soldier fighting in vietnam, now he is fighting to take away from the soldiers he originally verbally attacked!
Whether the SBV's are accurante in their commercials or not is not the point. No one questioned John Kerry when he rattled on about Vietnam to congress. In America, to utilize the 1st amendment, you don't have to be accurate or correct. You have to be willing to accept any consequences that may come your way from voicing your opinion.
John Kerry, based on his actions, is not willing to face the consequences of his use of the 1st ammendment! -------------------------------

First, I really hope the writer knows how to use a spell checker.
Second, Just as you cannot yell "Fire" in a crowed theater, so too you cannot spread lies on the public airways.
Third, I love how these folks are so concerned with "Veterans Rights", where were they while the * admin was cutting Veterans Benefits.

if what they say is the truth and not libelous. What they are engaging in is not free speech, it's libelous propaganda. There's a hell of a difference. It's the same as the BUSH EATS POO meme.

The Liars were coordinating ILLEGALLY with Bush Campaign.
THAT is the issue.

15. Agree, but .......... |
|
Lets say a 527, not in any way shape or form in contact with a candidate but supporting him/her, puts out an ad saying their candidate's opponent is still beating his/her spouse.
Now the ad is a lie, pure and simple...slander and/or libel, right?
All the coordination does is to add another level of illegality.

It is NOT alright to lie as long as the lies are not coordinated with the Bush/Cheney campaign. It is NOT alright to coordinate with the SBVT as long as the truth is told.
Calm down a little and think about it. Actually, right now, the proof about lying is actually coming faster than SOLID and ACTIONABLE proof of "official" (for lack of a better word) campaign coordination. That will come, but right now, the proof about lying is flying fast and furious.
The FEC is even saying that the lawyer's(Ginsburg) action of representing both parties may not have been against the rules, so the actual coordination, while likely true, will be MUCH harder to prove.

Put the cup down slowly and take a piece of candy into your mouth. Close your eyes and think of January 22, 2005, and President Kerry working on a health insurance law that will mean we will NEVER HAVE TO PUT DOWN THE COFFEE CUP AGAIN!!!!!!
(Have I dated myself by referring to the percolator)?

imax, who wrote this crapola? Is it a member of the media? The website you found this on, what kind of website is this?
I know the media is bent our way most of the time, and I like to see that. But this is different. The author tries to use common sense to tell why he doesn't like John Kerry!

I can think of two possible responses |
|
One is that there ARE laws against lying about people -- defamation of character, under which slander and libel fall. (Public figures have a very hard time if they decide to sue, and Kerry wouldn't; but nonetheless, the laws are there so what they're doing is illegal.)
A second response sets legalities about "free speech" and "defamation" aside and appeals to people's sense of right and wrong. Sure, you can lie, but it's damaging to the country, it accuses the US Navy of handing out medals like candy, it accuses veterans like Rassmann, Alston et al of lying, it sets veteran against veteran, it re-opens old wounds, it tells ALL veterans and those currently serving that their service and their medals are subject to attack at any time... You're "free" to do it, but we're appealing to your better sense to ask you not to.
