LOL Chicago Tribune: Keyes turns down role at convention
Keyes turns down role at convention

By Liam Ford
Tribune staff reporter
Published August 26, 2004

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Alan Keyes will be in New York City next week for the Republican National Convention, but he has turned down an offer to speak so he can concentrate on meeting with smaller groups of GOP stalwarts, supporters and possible donors, a campaign aide said Wednesday.
-snip-

Barack Obama, Keyes' Democratic opponent, gave the keynote speech at the Democratic National Convention in Boston last month and has received widespread media attention since winning his party's primary in March.

"Alan Keyes does not need a prime time slot at the Republican National Convention to get his message across," Pascoe said. "Barack Obama needed to be pumped up by Democrats in Illinois and nationally because he is just so much hot air."

Keyes will divide his time in New York between campaign-related events and events planned before he was named to replace former candidate Jack Ryan, a source close to the campaign said. Keyes will address Republican constituent groups and conservative groups and go to receptions and lunches, in addition to attending events sponsored by the Republican National Senatorial Committee to bring together GOP donors and candidates, the source said.

4. Their keynote speaker . . .
Are you ready? It's ZELL MILLER. The shriveled up, bitter old traitor.

Wow. That's going to inspire, I'm sure.

5. I wonder if he was "asked" to turn it down.
I think the GOP has unofficially written him off with this one.

Any speech he made would have hurt them with SOME group, and probably with several groups.

He's a joke.

2. They're keeping the whack jobs to a low profile
Wouldn't want them to reveal themselves to a national audience.

I would just like to point out that ALL segments of the Democratic population were represented at our convention. Of course our most "radical" Dems are so RADICAL that they dare to speak of peace, and justice, and equality.

On the other hand, the RADICAL elements of the Republican party are downright frightening. They speak eugenics, and endless war, and racism, and homophobia. They speak of forcing women to go through a pregnancy caused by rape or incest (Keyes). They must be kept under wraps.

As soon as Keyes opened his mouth everyone in MSG would crawl under thier seats anyway. They know what a nut job Keyes is and he does not speak for a majority of the Cons. He's just thier black poster boy and they really don't want to hear from him.
Just stay silent and keep on being black Alan, and we'll all get along fine.

that Alan Keyes will not be addressing the RNC. I had hoped to see him sporting an Uzi, and maybe even demonstrating it by spraying the audience! After all, republicans sure don't want any gun control!

11. Unreal

Barack Obama needed to be pumped up by Democrats in Illinois and nationally because he is just so much hot air."

They know this is a lie. Obama is a thoughtful, intelligent, understanding man. You may not like his politics, but he is very "statesman-like". The same....can NOT be said of Keyes.
