I AM MAD AS HELL AND YADA YADA YADA..,...
This morning, the LA times, in an inside story, says...for the first time, Bush edges ahead of Kerry. Of course, this is just one survey and might be significant for the moment but not necessarily for the time between now and November. But the mere fact that people are saying they will vote for Bush despite all they have seen and heard these four plus years, gripes my ass something fierce.

Since before 2000, we knew there was something fishy about Bush. The questions were already being asked about his military service which should have thrown up a red flag but didn't. And we knew he was an underachiever and a failure as a businessman, but still, no red flags of warning. And in those debates with Gore, it did not take a rocket scientist to figure out that Bush had no clue what he was talking about.

Then came 9/11. We all know how Bush reacted...like a deer in a car's headlights at night. He froze. Cheney leaped for his hidey hole. Then days later, he climbed up on that pile of rubble at ground zero for a photo op. And what happened....the electorate went oooh and ahhh and doesn't he look brave up there? Of course, any president would have don't the exact same thing which shows his actions were not so outstanding. But no red flags. No suspicion, no nothing. What did the electorate do.....they began wearing flag pins, and flying flags from their cars, and wearing flag t-shirts, yada yada yada. And we got the idea that Bush was going to save us. He saved us by sending us to war. Now his first target was legitimate...Afghanistan. Thats were Osama was hiding. But after we conquered the Afghans, sent the Taliban running and Al Queda scattered, he forgets all about Osama and goes after Iraq. Why? Cause of daddy. Bush still has not found Osama, he still fights in Iraq and he is still a bogus soldier, but by God, he is going to save us. And we just love the pants off him.

Look what he did to the economy that makes him so lovable. Created a record breaking deficit from a record breaking surplus, created programs which he either did not fund or underfunded. Sat on his ass as the number of people in poverty grew daily. Cowtowing to religious wackos, charitable giving diminished. School test scores did not improve and got worse in some areas. Jobs have been lost right and left and for those who still have jobs, he has taken away life saving overtime pay. And he continues to mess with social security, medicare, a nd the lives of senior citizens of which I am one.

But probably the thing that gripes me more than anything.....Bush is a freaking WORLD CLASS LIAR who hands out whoppers on a minute by minute basis and the electorate sees, hears and reads how his lies are exposed day by day and they still think this clown as earned another four years. And he surrounds himself with the greatest accumulation of liars, hucksters, con men, fools and thieves. And we sit and think that Bush is simply the best there is.

Have we become a nation filled with morons? At least half of all of us anyway. Or do we have a hidden death wish?

The man we elect President is supposed to be the best and the brightest. Bush is hardly that. He is supposed to at least give the impression of being honest. Bush abandoned that years ago. He used influence to get thru college, influence to escape going to Vietnam, and influence to get going in business. But even the influence he used, he didn't make adequate use of....he was just barely a C grade student, he was AWOL from the military and he ran two and almost three businesses into the group. He has abused drugs and alcohol, he has a criminal record and he puts up a false front as being a Texas rancher. He's not even from Texas. And that ranch is as bogus as he is.

There was a time I thought Republicans were smart. Because they were the captains of industry. Not any more. Bush and the Republicans is like Ali Baba and the 40 thieves and one of those thieves really is from the middle east.....Saudi Arabia.

When will America wake up? Thank you for indulging me. This is a bit long but I just had to say it! Unfortunately, now that I have said, I don't feel better because its all still there.

1. Thanks your rant covered me for the day. Whew I am worn out.
Seriously though I wonder if we are a country of idiots. If we elect Bush the rest of the world will believe that it has been confirmed, we are.

2. I'm mad and completely bewildered
You summed up my thoughts exactly when I read the Times story this morning -- "What alternate universe did I wake up in this morning?!" It reminds me of the Bizarro world in the Superman comics, where everything is upside down, including common sense.

How can 49% of our population want this idiot to stay in the White House after he's managed to fuck up everything he's laid his grimy little hands on???? And it's not just being innocently inept -- the consequences of his bumbling have cost nearly a 1000 lives in Iraq and possibly irreversible damage to the environment, the economy, the well-being of the poor, middle class and elderly, etc. etc. etc. The fact that I go on listing his misdeeds for another five pages at least makes my mind boggle at how BLIND people can be!

I agree that a hidden death wish is the only explanation.

6. people vote based on other things, like the weather
In a paper written in 2004, the Princeton political scientists Christopher Achen and Larry Bartels estimate that “2.8 million people voted against Al Gore in 2000 because their states were too dry or too wet” as a consequence of that year’s weather patterns. Achen and Bartels think that these voters cost Gore seven states, any one of which would have given him the election.

3. Like you said it is just one poll
Another issue, the polls are not including all the young people, and minorities that will be voting this year

I also believe that the women vote is underestimated. A woman's right to choose is truely at risk in this election

The corporate media will do everything they can to make bush look good. DO NOT BE FOOLED!

When and if the debates come, we have the issues on our side:

1. job loss, especially due to off-shoring
2. stem cell research
3. supreme court
4. civil rights
5. woman's right to choose
6. our position in the world of nations, and the divisions that have been created by this administration
7. alternative fuels
8. environment

we will win, a poll of 1300 people nationwide, does NOT reflect reality anymore

Remember they messed up big time in 2000, indicating that bush would win by 7 to 10%. We WON THE POPULAR VOTE!!!

7. That's it. This election will be decided by the youth and minority vote.
Soccer moms and vets will cancel each other out.

4. You forgot about how
He bought the souls of the 50% with $600 checks and tax cuts, morphed his all time tragic blunder of 9/11 into a patriotic "war on terror", and all the while maintains a false face of "Christian family values". These are the things that keep him afloat with the 50%.

5. The answer is obvious....
the media is not objective and the truth about Bush never comes out....all the lies and crimes of Bush that have hurt out country and the world so badly is hidden from the people of this country by the media. The people are not idiots, instead they are uninformed because they rely on the media to tell them what is truly going on and we do not have that today in the mainstreem media.
