The lessons John McCain did and didn't learn in 2000 |
|
As we all know, the same people that ran the Presidential campaigns of George W. Bush have been brought in to run the Presidential campaign of John McCain. Given that John McCain was the first target that these people painted a bulls eye on for George W. Bush in the 2000 Republican primary, it is interesting to look back at what the people that now run McCain’s campaign had to say about him then.
Back in 2000 the people that now run John McCain’s campaign portrayed John McCain as “the fag candidate” that was both gay and cheated on his wife. The Bush campaign indicated that he returned from 5 1/2 years as a POW in North Vietnam with a loose screw and couldn’t be trusted with nuclear weapons. They further used the time he spent in Vietnam against him to insinuate that he was a “Manchurian Candidate”, that he was a coward and traitor. The Bush campaign said that McCain had father a child with a black prostitute and suggested that Cindy McCain was a drug addict.
These things were all said about McCain by Republicans, many of which now run his own Presidential campaign. Back in 2000 the people that run McCain’s campaign showed the world how little integrity and honesty they possess. They showed the world that they would smear anybody to get what they want – even a POW.
Oddly, this same group that smeared McCain in 2000 now scream “how dare you attacked a POW” when anything negative is said about McCain. Oddly, the same people that voted against McCain in 2000 because he was a fag, Manchurian candidate with a drug addict wife now support him because he is a true American hero.
What does it say about McCain now that he has surrounded himself with the very people that assassinated his character? What does it say about his campaign now that it is filled with proven liars that didn’t have a second thought about attacking the wife of a candidate falsely or going after a veteran as a traitor and mentally imbalanced fool?
John McCain clearly learned the wrong lesson from the Bush campaign in 2000. John McCain has chosen to repeat the mud slinging and dishonesty that was used so successfully against him in 2000, he has chosen to park the straight talk express and become the prince of pandering, dishonesty, and smears. It’s quite disappointing to watch a man fail so badly on such a basic moral level; to watch some form of integrity be cashed in like a chip in order to achieve an ambition.

1. He sold his soul to the very evil that was once directed at him and his family... |
|
he no longer had credibility nor does his show a moral character trait worthy of representing this country in such trying times.....its more than sad, its downright pathetic, he proves his family do not matter when he stands side by side with those who attacked those he professes to love and honor, that is not honor, that is "cowardice".....he is not a hero in my eyes, he has become a "coward" and we already have proof positive of what having a cowardly leader will do to this country and it's citizens as well as citizens around the world....we should be ashamed that we the people did not take to the streets and protest the last theft of his second term...
but we cannot wallow in what ifs, we need to right the wrong we have allowed to occur in our name toward not only those in our country but in other's as well, its our duty.

2. Recognizing what happened in 2000 and bringing it into the ongoing national discussion |
|
is one of the keys to defeating the "POW card" that McCain plays over and over again. It also establishes him as a do anything candidate, further ties him to Bush, and puts the disgusting people that run these smear campaigns in the spot light.

3. exactly, the very fact that they themselves had NO problem in attacking a pow nor attacking |
|
the "purple heart recipients" via begun at the repub convention as well as their swift boaters attack on sen Kerry's service is enough to prove that they hold no standing in attempting to pretend they are honorable or care about anyone's military service..irony alert should be rung over and over and over again...
they are sick sick people who have proven they will win regardless of the cost and or casualties left behind....shout it often and loudly...

4. Not trying to trash Hillary at all, but |
|
this reminds me of when Obama said that Hillary learned the wrong lessons from the attacks on her character during the 90s. I think it has less to do with politicians learning the wrong lessons and more to do with this being a more natural human reaction for most people when they are attacked in such personal ways.

5. I had actually liked him until he stumped for Bush and I just was so disappointed. |
|
To just sell out your family and yourself like that for the sake of political ambition and so obviously was just really horrible for me to watch. I felt sorry for him until this year when I realized that it might have all been fake to begin with. He has NO INTEGRITY, if he ever had any that is.
