how come no one has the guts to call these PUMAs racist? |
|
I've seen a bunch of them on the talk shows lately, and they don't seem to have any credible reason for not supporting Obama. I mean, none. They've voted Democrat their whole lives even if their #1 choice in the primary was not the nominee. They just talk very vaguely about how Hillary was treated, 18 million votes, blah, blah, but they're not even pushing the meme that Obama treated them or her badly, at least not that strongly. I wish someone would just ask them about race and see the discomfort come over their faces.

2. I don't think it's all about racisim for them |
|
I think that some of them do feel genuinally slighted because they feel there was sexism against their chosen candidate. They feel they've been left out of the "process" because HRC wasn't the nominee. I don't agree with them but I do not agree with the characterization of them as racists is entirely correct either.

While it may not be racism to all, I think that some of them are racist, and as far as a supposed slight, they need over it.

Although that Harriet lady who was at the Rules meeting in Florida did make a point of calling him an inadequate black man.
Some of them might be racists but I don't think it's all of them.

7. Because they are not significant. Over 90% of Hillary supporters DO NOT WANT |
|
mccain to be president, and WILL vote for Obama
The distortion that a significant number of Clinton supporters belong to PUMA is a fraud to create attention to the convention, and divide us
In reality it will cause more viewers to watch the Convention, allow us to get our message out, and most important be more united than anyone can imagine

These people are not Democrats. They may be DINOs who vote in the Democratic primary, but they're not people who usually vote for the Democratic nominee for president. Some are DINOs, but most of them are GOP operatives.

13. How come so many here keep legitimizing these "PUMAs" as something more than |
|
a GOP created divisive tactic?
I wish this "PUMA" bullshit would stop on DU and be seen for what it is... a GOP tactic to divide our party and give the appearance that we are not unified behind the nominee. The reality is we are. And the continued claims that the Clinton supporters are defectors of the party plays right into their hands.

it's because they are really loud, obnoxious, vocal and seem to be on my TV every 10 minutes telling me why, as PROUD HILLARY DEMOCRATS, they are going to vote for McCain.
Please, try not to give me a lecture about turning off my TV, this only turns me into the last person to know... - This is what all of America is seeing - I choose to be aware of what the hell is being trotted out on the M$M. It happens to be PUMA's who support Hillary so much they will not vote for the Democratic nominee.

22. Unfortunately they come here and post simply to disrupt discussion. |
|
I found that out, to my great sorrow, yesterday.
Nobody knows how many there are. And I don't care as long as they don't try to create havoc here. There's nothing we can do to change their minds, anyway. But I really dislike it when they intentionally try to mess this board up and then go back to their other site and brag about it.
I guess our freedom to discuss issues doesn't matter to them.

16. In '84 and '88, African Americans Supported the Dem Nominee |
|
even though Jesse Jackson was defeated in the primaries. In '92, African Americans supported Clinton even though he publicly disrespected Jesse Jackson in the famous Sister Souljah moment. Even throughout Clinton's presidency, African Americans supported him.
For any Dem to not back the Dem nominee after 4 years of Bush is a fucking racist.

28. "Southern Democrats"... |
|
You guys know full well that the term "Southern Democrats" was used back in the day to describe the homophobic, racist & bigoted wing of the party that had its origins mostly in the South. Most of them became Republicans over the last fourty years, but we still have a contingent that we can call our own. It can also be described as the DLC wing of the party. We have had enough of the DLC and "centrism".They are fading into irrelevance and they are going down just like 4 year olds, kicking and screaming. I have triplets myself and usually totally ignore temper tantrums, as the tend to just fade on their own.....

30. If people are uncomfortable |
|
labeling their specific brand of stupid and/or evil then the general terms should work.
In any event, be it millions or a few. We can do one thing and that's make them clear eyed vote against their own interest. The McCain is a moderate veneer must be stripped away. If these people are going to cast that ballot, let's see to it that they know who they are voting for.
