ENOUGH with the Keys already, It is an incredibly reprehensible thing to do, |
|
Democrats are supposed to be the Good Guys. Looking out for the disenfranchised, disillusioned and disabled,
WHether you want to punish the Republicans or not using PTSD triggers is just cruel.
Yes the voters do need to be aware of it and yes it certainly is important. But this is the equivalent of pushing someone in a wheelchair down some stairs. Or mugging the elderly. It the political equivalent to "wilding" in Central Park.
The most insidious part of this is that some of the same people advocating this crap are the same folks who also demand absolute fidelity to their idea of what a Democrat is and what they must stand for. Less we look to republican.
It is tacky, imbecilic, mean and contemptible. And you dare call yourself a Democrat?

Obama is not going to lose the election because Democrats jangled keys.
To suggest so is insane.
Democrats haven't been able to get anywhere in recent years because they've been brainwashed with this "political correctness" crap.
We're sensitive, while the Republicans STEAL ALL THE MONEY, KILL OUR TROOPS, AND DESTROY THE ECONOMY.
So you may be sensitive and thoughful, but the Republicans still have your money, and have made your life worse and killed your child.
Don't fall for their programming.

Considering that keys are for boats and cars and lockers and mailboxes and all sorts of other things, and so it's really hard to see how that idea would even get off the ground really.
Weird coincidence... yeah.

It seems that the narrative goes something like this:
Poster A: Let's jangle keys to make fun of all of McCain's houses
Poster B: But keys are only going to serve to allow the Republicans to attack us, by making it seem as if we are mocking McCain's military service and his time as a POW (because it is known that the sound of keys brings up traumatic memories for him of the guards)
Poster A: Keys have NOTHING to do with his time in Vietnam! It's about houses! Are you stupid?
Poster B: Then why use keys to make this point, as they can easily be used against us. Why not use monopoly house necklaces, for example, which cannot possibly be used to attack us?
Poster A: You are stupid!
Poster B: Why does it have to be keys???
So, I'll ask again... why does it have to be keys?

being nasty works in American Presidential elections
repugs are nasty therefore they win most of the federal American Presidential elections
if the enemy is using a machine gun, putting up your bare hand is not going to stop the bullets, no matter how well intentioned you are.
Democrats better do what it takes (legally) to win the White House, or the repugs will do everything they can (including illegal) do get it.
as long as we don't do anything illegal, we will always be nobler than repugs.

There are many ways PTSD manifests. I think there was a quote posted here somewhere, from Mccain saying that he gets tense for a few seconds and then he's ok. I've posted before that I have PTSD, that's the way it is for me. There is a trigger event, I get a flashback for maybe 5 seconds where I feel frightened or tense, I acknowledge what is happening and then it's over. He does not go nuts when he hears keys, he just gets tense. This is just not a good argument against McCain, there are so many other REAL things that should scare us about him....like his potential appointments to the supreme court.
If anyone thinks that "pushing the button" is a spur of the moment event without checks, you are naive or perhaps just a bit disingenuous.
