Dumb.

That's the kind of guy you have speak at 7pm when the place is half empty.

What a buzz kill.

22. Look.... you have to HOLD the audience.... having a guy with a boring monotone voice,
who sounds like Bert from Sesame Street doesn't do it.

More Teddy Kennedy, please... and less monotonic Republicans that nobody ever heard of.

10. If he was an ENGAGING repub who wouldn't bore people to tears, you'd be right...

TV sets all across the nations were switching to non-convention coverage as soon as that guy started speaking.

Like watching paint dry.

You can't have BORING in prime time.

And challenged someone to a duel. That's some killer prime time entertainment there.

7. Actually, my husband was just wondering...
...where Jim Leach was.

He made the point that Leach is the kind of guy who can help
us win elections. He's a Republican, who has crossed over to
support Obama, and Leach is respected.

He demonstrates Obama's universal appeal, and could help to draw
some Republicans, or at least get them thinking.

Also, it's impressive to some Independents, who like the idea of
a candidate crossing political boundaries.

I think giving Leach a primo time slot is a great idea.

14. He may be all those things, but he's a TERRIBLE public speaker....

It's great that he's supporting Obama.... but he's DRY and he could give that speech earlier in the evening, instead of boring every independent voter in the country that we're trying to get.

It was such a downer following Kennedy.

17. Good one...
Maybe if Leach had been on a trapeze--sweeping across the convention air until
he clasps hands with a sparkly-leotard-clad Oprah.

Ya gotta have he sparkles, my friend!

25. jim is one of the last real republicans
i was not paying attention to who was speaking but jim`s one of the few republicans left that has principals. whether we like him or not he does deserve respect for standing for what he believes in and respecting those who disagree with him. it takes respect and trust in and for each other to get things done in the senate...that is what the senate used to have. but the band of thugs the republicans have become there is very little left of that "balance"
