"Protesters are clashing with police in front of the Denver Sheridan hotel, home to the California delegates in town for the Democratic National Convention, on Court Street between 15th and 16th streets.

According to a Fort Collins Now reporter on the scene providing coverage via his cell phone, a protester group of about 500 people, who Denver police believe include members of Recreate 68, have shut down city streets and are confronting police. Several people have been sprayed with pepper spray and self-styled medics are assisting people by helping them wash their eyes and skin with bottled water. As of 7:45 p.m., police seemed to be preparing to clear the streets with tear gas."

The chain link gulag proves Denver cops were itching for a fight. Dems are reasonable people. I think rumor and baiting may have gotten the crowd worked up.

There was also a vidoe about a lot of denver cops retiring to avoid the stress and training, leaving some who weren't ready for the demands of the convention on the job.

I'm all for dissent, but when you block the streets of common citizens who need to go about their lives, they stepped in the wrong direction. All it does is piss off people who might even agree with what Recreate68.

Protest! Make speeches! But don't shut down the streets where the very people that they are trying to help can't get to their nightshift job...
