South Dakota Dems enthralled with Michelle

"I watched Michelle Obama’s speech from a press table behind the all-white South Dakota delegation. I watched members leaning forward as if listening to good, engaging gossip. They were engaged. I got the feeling that perhaps many of them hadn’t heard stories like this before."

I think the bulk of this article is stupid, and I think it's equally stupid for the writer to assume most folks haven't heard stories of working families since most of us are from working families, but I did like the little tidbit about the South Dakota delegation.

1. I thought it was a good article.

There was a woman talking from the Convention floor who was a writer for the Chicago Sun-Times, and she pointed out that Chicago knows all about the Obamas. So the Tribune and Sun-Times probably write from a completely different perspective. After all, they KNOW what it means to grow up in South Side Chicago. And for them, a girl from South Side Chicago is NOT the girl next door. Michelle Robinson was probably one tough cookie as a girl. Chicagoans are going to know that... and accept it.

If the rest of America doesn't quite figure it out, I'm okay with that.
