5. Thanks. MSNBC has him canvassing the youth vote.

He's insisting that without the 18-34 year old crowd, Obama will lose. WTF?

8. Did he give any kind of figures to back that statement up?
Or is it more ridiculous assertion that he and his ilk like to just make up out of thin air?

....he's fitting in well to the right-wing enbling whore-monger that was his father's legacy...

4. Not just you - he has an ego and NBC feeds it
They don't look for someone that has skills, integrity, and worked their way up to become a "good" journalist. They want a brand that they can sell - and Russert fits the bill since his fathers death.

I can't stand to watch Luke, he's pompous and arrogant with a smarmy "you can't touch me" attitude.

and get teary and say "....your father would be so proud of you..."

We're not the only ones who notice how awkward it can get.

Luke Russert Segments Will Always Be About Death

NBC News’ strategy in hiring young Luke Russert is now clear: whenever anything happens, Brian Williams can ask Luke what his dead father thinks about it.

16. As I characterize it, he's untouchable
They are riding high on the emotional rollercoaster that they have tried to inject by putting Luke in that role. They want to conjure up images of Tim and "Big Russ" and craft some magical story of his kid following in his footsteps.

He knows he's untouchable based on his last name alone, so he will do whatever he pleases to fit whichever agenda he wishes to pursue.

10. it isn't you...it's all of NBC...
the kid has little to do with the situations they will place him...

they're looking for emotional 'lightning in a bottle'...as if the kid can bring back his dad...

he's a smart kid...he'll be fine once he gets away from what Walter Brennan (in 'Meet John Doe') called 'the Healots'....

He may know more than the average 23 year old journalist because of who is old man was, but his reporting style comes across as very wet behind the ears.

and he's eating it up.. Nepotism 101.. Pretty soon though, the people in the suits will probably suggest he lose a few pounds.. the chubby-young-guy-look is not all that conducive to tv....They usually like the tall, lanky, lean, look...unless you do weather :)

22. No. You are correct.
And while many here were doing a praise a thon of Tim upon his death, they failed to notice the utterly grim and calculated manuvers of the NBC and Russert crowds to use the endless funeral coverage to promote Luke as some annointed prince, taking his Dad's place by genetic right, unearned by work or talent.
Let me be clear. During the funeral, this was what they were after. It made me sick then. It was a disgustiong display. But it worked. Luke inherited his Dad's job. As if that is how to pick commentators and journalists. Oh well, at least all that funeral dance was not wasted, and they got what they wanted.

27. He said if it wasn't for Facebook, there would be no Barack Obama for President.
He actually thinks that, which says more about his inability to fully understand or even consider the political crossroads we are at in this nation. That comment made him look silly and out of place in a media setting. Then he goes on to talk about the drinking game they have going on, where they have to take a drink every time Obama said the word change. MSM is desperately seeking attention.

Sorry Luke, but you really need to stick to the relevant issues if you want people to take you serious.

30. I think it speaks to just how right-wing Tim and his family really are
We all have said Tim was a right-wing water boy during all his time on NBC. Now, his self-anointed spawn is coming right out of the gate with no experience and little talent other than his last name blasting the Democrats at every turn. That should speak volumes on where the Russert family stands politically and put to rest any notion that Tim was a "honest journalist".

33. Earlier in life TR was an okay reporter- but he became paid pundit.
Tim changed his tune to pander to traditionalist and was like an untethered balloon in the winds of politics. All too typical of today's media. I actually did see a couple of instances where he called out Repubs little lies. Not often enough though. An honest journalist is not an accurate description of his style. Good, bad, or indifferent - people are easily influenced by power and greed. Problem #1.

So is the state of the world...

of a frat boy looking for the kegger, where he can say nasty things about women that pass by and would be the type that would be calling someone "homo".

Pathetic and sad, that our media has come to this, where the the deification of his father, a run of the mill closet republican and all around "good ol' boy" could make sure his special son could be installed and milked for death sympathy.

He is completely full of himself, and "Morning Intern" Joe and that blond vapid creature next to him were practically falling over him this morning, making sure he was brought into the fold. They would not be doing this unless GE/MSNBC had the intent of keeping his lardy ass around.

So he know exactly how to play this and he's in the catbird seat, the only problem that he has to loose weight in his fat squirrely face and loose the frat boy hair as he gets more important assigments.
