The number that matters.
Polls are like roller coasters. Fun for a while, but can make you throw-up.

1. If McCain wins CO, OH, and VA he wins |
|
the WH.
And all three states are trending his way.

4. Mccain won't take Iowa and probably not Missouri. |
|
He has to sweep the big swings: CO, OH, VA and FL.
I don't buy FL in the bag. Obama has opened a shit load of offices there and is has spent a lot of money on ads.

10. But, don't you see, Mccain has to run a perfect campaign, |
|
holding and defending everywhere. Obama has to swing just one of the big ones. Obama has put the boots on the ground and the money in, so he will take it.

16. McCain can afford to lose two red states. |
|
If he wins Bush minus New Mexico and Iowa, he still wins.

6. FL is hardly a lock for McCain - Q poll has Obama up by 2, Ras has it within |
|
2 for McCain, ARG has McCain by 1.
Plenty of campaigning to do in Florida yet.

9. Republican state party is vastly superior to the clown show |
|
that the Democratic state party is.
Also, McCain isn't even advertising there and he's consistently leading Obama.

I live in Florida, & while I realize that what I personally see can't be represented for the whole state, but I have seen a lot more Obama bumper stickers, posters, pins, etc. Especially at my college! I've seen so few pro-John McCain things that I started counting them when I do. Five since June. I hope that's a good sign... Even if Obama doesn't win FL, I think it will be damn close.

The bar is simply keeping McCain fro achieving that number of electors.
McCain MUST get 270 to be president. All Obama has to do is keep McCain from getting 270 and he wins.

15. Exactly, Obama has home court advantage |
|
like Bush had home court advantage in 2000.
Even though Gore was part of the popular incumbent party, Bush had the advantage that the House delegation would have more than 26 states with a majority of Republicans.
This year, that advantage is the Democratic Party's and Obama can afford for a state to not seat a slate of electors so long as McCain does not achieve 270 electors.
If you recall, the recount strategy of the Republicans wasn't for Bush to win, it was to insure Gore did not win. They didn't care if Florida got zero electors seated because they knew under those circumstances, Bush would win.
