Dems United! But the Republicans deal with a Ron Paul revolt. |
|
Ron Paul Republicans gathering at Target Center in Minneapolis same time as the RNC.
"for the political resistance event of the year: Ron Paul’s Rally for the Republic."
They got Gov. Jesse Ventura former Gov. Gary Johnson (New Mexico)

Everybody start an astroturf site about how if Ron Paul doesn't get the nomination, you're going to vote for Obama. Nobody has to know that you were going to vote for Obama anyway. Sauce for the goose and all that.

10. It wouldn't be a bad idea - except they already have plenty |
|
Most of the Ron Paul sites have members that are already planning on voting for Obama just "to teach the GOP a lesson". Others are voting for Barr or other third party candidates. I would say that the majority of the Paul voters will stay away from the GOP this year in all races, as they organize their own grassroots. They could be a significant threat to the GOP if not as much this year but in future years.
I know a guy who has worked with me on several Democratic campaigns over the past 8 years and he's always been a strong libertarian. He worked for us because he hated what the GOP had become, but this cycle he went over to support Ron Paul. Can't blame him as his ideology is closer to Paul's. Once Paul was out - he called me telling me that he was still going to work for Paul and their movement, but this cycle he would be supporting and volunteering his time because he liked Obama and thought he would make a great leader, full ideology aside. The guy has a movement in this area that is absolutely second to none and they can organize events better than most of the full-fledged parties - plus there's about 100 of them that are always active. He believes that most of them will vote Obama as sort of a "lesser of the two evils" and some will support Obama because they genuinely like him.

4. I would really like to see exhaustive coverage of those protests... |
|
and lots of interviews with Paul's supporters.
Sadly, we don't even have a fair media, let alone a liberal one.

5. And .................It will be ignored completely |
|
I'm telling you right now, the MSM will skip over that like a hot potato. There are far more of the Ron Paul Republican's than there are PUMAS and they are much more unified.
All will be roses and champagne in Republican land, where the MSM will frame it as unified despite of their unpopular President and give McCain all the praises that they can muster for "being good enough and focused, connecting with the common voter".

6. Tickets sold fast: in six hours 6,217 were sold. |
|
The “Rally for the Republic” convention will be an alternative venue to the Republican Convention and, of course, will feature none other than Ron Paul headlining the event. As a result, over 6,000 tickets were dispersed in about six hours once they went on sale. http://www.youdecide2008.com/2008/07/27/ron-paul-convention-tickets-sell-over-6000-in-hours/

16. Now THAT would be entertaining |
|
We'd be litterally hearing the "Think of the Children!" nationwide as the "loyal" Repubs all reactively chant it in unison.

11. Ron Paul who??? That will be the attitude of the media. ZERO coverage. |
|
For all intents and purposes, the man doesn't even exist. The MSM will make sure their viewers know Republicans are united.

It may be heretical here, but I loved that guy in politics. He added spice to an otherwise bland dish. No day is boring when he's around. Nice.

13. More Ron Paul signs than McCain signs so far around here. |

I've only seen one McCain sign but at least 1/2 dozen for Ron Paul. We're a pretty red area.
