1. You nailed it.
I saw the video. Looks like they are bringing the White House front yard to him.

I'm sure it will be labeled pretentious. I think it looks fantastic.

5. It does look like the White House and it IS pretentious
His whole campaign strategy, including the quasi-presidential international tour, has been pretentious. He's acting Presidential long before the election. Like it's in the bag.

But whether or not it is pretentious is irrelevant. It's working and that's all that matters.

Elections are not about fairness, right or wrong, misleading ads, or dirty tricks. Elections are about WINNING. Republicans have known that for a long time. Obama is the first Democratic candidate in a long time who is playing to win. And he's doing it well.

I wouldn't change a thing.

8. Hear! Hear!
It might look pretentious to some, but to others it might look like he's confident. Something neither Al Gore nor John Kerry looked in their campaigns. Other people might interpret it as having an attitude (in a hip sense) or having balls of steel.

All of those possibilities have positives and negatives attached to them. But all of them say he's laying it all on the line here. And that's a good thing. It show, as you say, he's come to play, and win.

12. In sales we call it the "assumptive close."
You talk to a prospect like the deal is done like "When we are doing business together..."

7. They may have been sold a bill of goods by the Convention Decorator!!!
The White House isn't curved.

They likely are using pre-existing Greek structure and adding windows.

9. Its curved because the stage is curved, and the stadum seating is curved.
Plus it blocks out sight lines behind them which secures part of the area for the massive security that's going to be there.

So it serves a function and form on several levels. I looked at it and thought "White House" right when I saw the windows in the back of the central area of the stage.

11. One other point... the White house is curved.
Look at this picture carefully.

Look at the top molding of the porch area, and around the wings. Then pause this video at 4:47 to compare.
