Democratic Convention Getting Good Ratings
The Nielsen ratings for the first two days of the Democratic National Convention are out and they show a couple of interesting things:

* Hillary Clinton's speech (26.0 million viewers) had higher ratings than Michelle Obama's speech (22.3 million viewers).
* African Americans continue to watch the convention in a higher proportion than the rest of the population
* Almost five times as many people (26 million) watched Day Two coverage in 2008 vs. Day Two in 2004 (5.9 million) when only the cable networks covered the convention.

To compare Clinton's speech with Kerry, Kerry's acceptance speech only garnered 24 million viewers; Bush 27 million.

Expect Obama's acceptance speech to get well over 30 million.

2. This is good. I hope most of those people watched on C-Span and
didn't get subjected to FAUX's idea of fair and balanced camera coverage.

3. Almost half of them are watching CSPAN

or some other source without the bloviating bobbleheads. I don't blame them.

Just doing simple math for Michelle's speech: 22.3 million total viewers minus 12.5 million combined network viewers leaves 9.8 million getting it from (I assume) CSPAN, PBS, Dish 211, or some online feed.

Approximately 44%. That's great news!

My source for the numbers:
