Frustrated that the delegates weren't allowed to vote as assigned, focusing on the '76 GOP convention.

I agree with him. I remember that '76 convention. It was riveting. I rooted for Reagan to somehow pull it out since conventional wisdom said he was too conservative and easiest for Carter to defeat.

Current conventions suck. They basically mean nothing but sites like this and all the cable networks thrill to focus on recency, over reacting to everything. Hillary boosted her image and chances for 2016 but otherwise I doubt anything changes out of Denver. Same thing next week.
