Obama's stage at Invesco field to have greek theme

DENVER (Reuters) - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's big speech on Thursday night will be delivered from an elaborate columned stage resembling a miniature Greek temple. The stage, similar to structures used for rock concerts, has been set up at the 50-yard-line, the midpoint of Invesco Field, the stadium where the Denver Broncos' National Football League team plays.

Some 80,000 supporters will see Obama appear from between plywood columns painted off-white, reminiscent of Washington's Capitol building or even the White House, to accept the party's nomination for president.

He will stride out to a raised platform to a podium that can be raised from beneath the floor.

The show should provide a striking image for the millions of Americans watching on television as Obama delivers a speech accepting the Democratic presidential nomination.

Has anyone found any pictures yet.

1. It would be called "neo-classical". Like 3/4 of DC.

6. I was only referencing the article
They called the columns and structure a greek representation. I haven't seen any picture so I can't comment or say it is neo-classical.

8. I know, I know - not yelling at you. Just sick of this crap all day.
Anyone who knows ANYTHING about architecture would know what to call that design. They purposely chose something else to create another fake BS controversy.

9. Oh I know what you meant
Neo-classical would probably be a better way to describe it.

4. Already being laughed at and called egotistical by the press, all sides. It does seem a bit much. No?
I love Obama.
But the glimpse I saw on the news tonight looked embarrassing.

I'm hoping his speech has a corresponding theme that will make it make sense.

17. oh, lol! ok, now I get it!
What drives me nuts is that McCain can actually declare "we are all Georgians now" but the MSM wants to portray Obama as un American due to the architecture of his acceptance speech stage. Crazy times.

18. Invesco Field Stage Design
It's amazing to me that some people can get upset about the set design. I guess most of the media journalists who are raising questions about it just don't have much of a historical background. Hmm, ancient Athens - the birthplace of democracy. I think I'm going to delete CNN from my remote to go along with Fox News.
