This was one hell of a good night to be a Democrat.
I got home in time to catch Howard Dean. The ol' flamethrower had the fireworks muted--maybe he's tired--God knows the man must be dead on his feet--or maybe he didn't wan't to do anything to divert the focus from the candidate, but he got in a few good shots.

Then comes Bill Richardson, my first choice for a candidate in this election, and I was pleasantly surprised to see the big teddy bear rip into McCain and the Republican legacy. Tim Kaine was bouyant as can be and bilingual as well and anyone who does not love Stevie Wonder must be a charter member of Al Queda.

Al Gore pulled it all together, how the economic crisis, the energy crisis and the climate crisis are all intertwined.

Barack Obama, what can I say. He was great. He was greater than great. He was Muhammed Ali knocking out a younger, stronger George Foreman. He was Secretariat demolishing a field of finest horses in the land by 31 lengths. He told them he was going to give a workmanlike speech and then sang out like fucking Pavarotti of anger and hope and change.

In the end it was joy onstage and Sasha Obama and Joe Biden's grandaughter trying to catch confetti.

...and for once the GOP talking heads were stunned silent, waiting for the talking points that never came.

It was beautiful.
