I was at Mile High last night with my 2 boys. OMG.
It was the most electrifying event I've EVER been to, or ever WILL go to. Didn't get home until almost midnight and I'm still exhausted.

I watched a little bit of MSNBC rerun coverage when I got home and then switched to the CNN rerun of the speech.

Let me tell you this: That stadium was so LOUD! So loud, in fact, that we frequently couldn't hear all of what was said. There were chants and we did the wave over and over. Everyone was ecstatic. And when we were stomping our feet it sounded like thunder and bombs going off. We all had American flags and were waving them constantly. We sang along with everybody who performed. We laughed. We cried. We hugged complete strangers. You have never heard anything more powerful than 85,001 people exiting on the ramps chanting in 1 voice.

My sons and I walked from Mile High to Union Station (we're talking miles here) to catch the light rail train, right behind the MSNBC setup in Lodo. Chris Matthews was still on when we were there and he was totally raving about the speech. It was amazing how many people were there for that coverage, I guess all night. And then the hundreds of us who had streamed from the stadium joined them until our trains pulled up.

It was the most beautiful night. It was cool and slightly breezy. The fireworks were spectacular and unexpected. That's another thing. You've never seen anything like 85,000 people jump when fireworks go off when you didn't know it was gonna happen.

Anyway, so what'd I miss?

3. LOL. We took photos. Now I just need to get the dock to hook
the camera up to the computer. My older son has it. Hopefully my younger one will bring it home today as I asked him to. And then hopefully we can figure out how to post them. :)

5. Honestly I don't think I could even think about anything else today.
I want to relive it. TV coverage that I watched last night didn't do the crowd justice, but at least you could hear the speeches. Gonna have to find some YouTube.

16. Oh, Marrah. When Al came on stage, the stadium positively ERUPTED.
He had to make us shut up so he could talk. His speech was SO meaningful, so powerful, so positive. And he looked fabulous. That's when the tears started for me, mostly of joy but sometimes for what SHOULD have been.

I wish you could have been there with us. You'd love my boys. I never dreamed that they would be such fighters, that they would support our party the way they are.

What a memory to share. :)

It looked like everyone was having a very good time. I was dancing in my bedroom and waving my hand while you all were waving the flag. :)

10. Thank you for posting this.
Watching the news all morning, I was beginning to wonder if Obama's acceptance speech was just a dream. A wonderful dream.

History was made last nite in more ways than one and I haven't heard much about it this morning.

11. And I was there with my wife and two daughters!
Hope your seats were better than ours. Our assigned section was full-to-overflowing by the time we made it into the stadium, at about 5:30 - after walking about 2.5 hours in the longest line I have ever been in!

We ended up sitting in the obstructed view seats to speakers’ right. We could, occasionally see speakers’ hands when they talked, and everyone who exited stage right gave us special waves and smiles.

All of the logistic nightmares aside, it was an abosolutely magical night. The mood in the line to get in was festive the whole way, and the energy inside the stadium was electric! My 12 year old was listening intently to Obama' speech, excitedly getting up to cheer with us at each applause line, and my 8 year old happily chased the red, white and blue confetti, as it came down like a patriotic version of Colorado's famed "champaign powder!"

There was no place in the world that I would rather have been!

Steve

13. Seriously the longest line on EARTH! I never really found the
end of it, to tell you the truth. When we couldn't find the end, we asked a cop if there were other lines and he told us where 2 others were. So we went in the direction he pointed us to and got sort of swept up in a crowd going through an alley. And then at the end of the alley a stadium official pointed us to another way and said it'd take us 20 minutes to get in if we went that way and 2 hours if we went with most of the crowd.

I left my house at 1:00 or so and got in the stadium at 5:15 or 5:30. Took light rail down there but couldn't get the train that stops at Invesco so had to go to the 16th Street Mall. We walked that and saw all the "You're gonna burn in Hell" people. Grabbed a cab that had to go all the way around the world to get us even close to Mile High and then that line.

OMG. I will never forget that line. The HUMANITY!!! :)

21. I can't even think about McInsane and Miss Topless after
last night. They are not, and could never be, in the same league with Obama and Biden. The republican party is like a sick caricature of a REAL political party. They should be laughed off the stage, out of town, and off the planet.

22. Everything You Said Jen
and more.

It was truly electrifying - I'm so glad I got involved early in the campaign and was able to attend the most amazing event in my lifetime. I'm still on cloud 9 from the buzz I got being there with 80,000 members of the most inclusive political party these United States.
