Attack Palin because she is a republican...attack her |
|
because you don't support her political views and choices.
Leave her role as a mother out of it.
One of the reasons that women still haven't seen higher positions like VP and Pres is because of the fact that WE as women continue to tear each other down. It is not men that keep us from rising to higher levels...it is US as women. Being a mom is the hardest job that I have ever had...I have had to make difficult choices about my own career and life and it seems like no matter what my choice is..to work or to stay at home...I am met with intense criticism by mom mommy peers. I'm tired of the judgment, tired of the mommier than though women that I meet, sick of the diehard sahm nazis. I have been a stay-at-home, have worked full-time, have worked full-time...I have done it all. Currently, I am a stay-at-home mom. But..I support the right for women to choose to work when they have children.

I have no qualms about reminding republican male chauvinists that McCain's health ain't so good, and his veep REALLY needs to be able to step into the #1 spot. If you know what I mean.

We don't want to start a movement that sounds anti-woman around here right now...not unless we want to alienate some of our fellows dems.

6. I'd love to but they have already to put her motherhood in it. |
|
They want it in play, and they want to manipulate America with "mom"
They want us to attack mothers so we look like ghouls. This is no different than the "don't attack McCain, he's a POW" thing all over again.
Next up, apple pies.

9. Yes it will, that's why she was picked. |
|
They will frame any attack on her as an attack on America's "mom" Bank on it.
The Obama camp has to tread more carefully now, where as McCain can be more careless. Palin is a move to mitigate Obama's momentum.

16. I agree...also, Palin hasn't been governor long and she is young. |
|
That means Obama will also have trouble attacking her for age/experience.
Hmmmm. It does mean we will have to be careful about our criticisms.

7. As long as we're not beaten over the head with it. |

I hope that her role as a mother is left out of this, too. But somehow I have a feeling that both her older son and baby will become ad fodder over the coming months. Sheer exploitation that only she can put boundaries on.

10. Thank you. There are days when I simply can't believe that this is a progressive board. |
|
And the biggest critics of Palin's choices as a mother are, of course, other women. :grr:

12. I am truly disgusted that sexism appears to be so acceptable... |
|
to so many. Imagine what would happen if he had chosen an african american candidate. Could you imagine the outrage if we started wondering if he would be smart enough as an african american, good enough since he is a member of the NAACP, etc etc. That would be completely inappropriate and horrible...everyone here would be outraged as they should be...and the posts would be locked.
She's 'just' a woman though.
It's funny to have hillary clinton ball busting nutcrackers...but not so funny to have a stuffed Obama monkey (FYI...neither of them are appropriate!).
Stop with the sexism!
